Around the world those who support peace need to talk actively. What do we do when someone in power decides to destroy others at all costs, with no limits? Let’s talk about it. We can’t continue in silence to observe people of power go to all lengths with their power, to justify destroying populations. No sides, just talk about how to get to conflict resolution and peace as the idea to just continue conflict to get to peace is not a solution. Destroy everything and then what? There are no sides… we’re all on one planet and conflict hurts all mankind. Pick peace. Conflict resolution. Just your ability to talk about this conflict, to not be afraid to be judged, to just talk as caring people is the right step to getting to a space where conflict resolution makes sense.

Reflecting on the Echoes of the Great War: Insights into Crisis Intervention 📜 "Ahead of us rumbled and thundered artillery fire of a volume we had never dreamed of; a thousand quivering lightnings bathed the western horizon in a sea of flame." — Ernst Jünger As we approach the International Co-Responder Conference, I am excited to share a glimpse into the rich historical context of crisis intervention, drawing lessons from an era marked by extreme adversities and resilience. My upcoming presentation titled "Before Their Time: Lessons in Crisis Intervention from the Great War" explores how early twentieth-century challenges shaped modern approaches to managing crises. The attached image of Ernst Jünger, a decorated German soldier and author, symbolizes not just the physical confrontations of the Great War but also the profound psychological impacts and the nascent strategies that emerged for coping with crisis. 🌐 Join me at the conference from June 9-12, where we'll delve deeper into historical insights and their relevance to contemporary crisis intervention practices. Stay tuned for more previews in the coming weeks as we count down to the event! #History #CrisisIntervention #MentalHealthAwareness #ICRC2024

Africa Natural Resources Fair Distribution Greed Armed Conflict Child Soldiers Blessing or Curse? How do we hold duty bearers accountable to ensure equitable distribution? Success of this solves greater chunk of the sources of armed conflict in Africa. And arguably, end the continent's reliance on 'unhealthy' economic bailouts. Last Friday, I gave a lecture on the use of starvation as a weapon of war in the context of Gaza for the Conflict Studies lecture series called Concerning War and Conflict. The lecture provided a unique opportunity for analysis, exchange of knowledge and open debate with students, colleagues and public attendees. The lecture addressed important questions and issues around famine, starvation as a man-made suffering, and their impact on the Palestinian population in Gaza. Questions around why and how perpetrators use starvation in conflicts were addressed to make sense of the multilayered case within the broader conflict. It was a good opportunity to share knowledge where conflict analysis and freedom of speech come together to learn and expand our perspectives. Please pin 16 September in your agenda for the next lecture on algorithmic warfare and civilian harm: the case of Gaza by dr. Lauren Gould and Jessica Dorsey. #gaza #starvation #conflictstudies

#War on #Peace: A Modern #Legacy by Michael Proulx Peace is a construct that results from a concerted effort involving peacemaking, peace keeping and peace building. This categorization generates theoretical and empirical analyses of peace in order to better understand its conditionality, and more importantly, to replicate it when needed. Confusion about the modern enterprise of peace, and war, is examined here. This paper argues there is a permanent global war being prosecuted against peace through a review of the cost(s) of conflict literature. I conclude by identifying opportunities to install liberal market institutions and risk management techniques to the contexts of conflict – for mitigation and/or prevention. The goal is not to assess the cost(s) of conflict per se but question why war is so prolific that it overwhelms the rationale for peace, especially economic rationale. https://lnkd.in/eg8sfv7T

📑 According to our analysis, the most likely scenario for the next six months regarding the Red Sea crisis is “High tensions and continuation of escalation, no massive spillover”. In this scenario no common ground can be found, and hostilities between most of the parties in the Middle East remain high without an escalation into a wider regional war.
