We’re back onsite in Coventry with our very own Michael Parinchy, Senior Construction Manager at ProBuild360, for another exciting update on this massive commercial development. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been happening: Rooftop Revamp A quarter of the roof has been stripped back, and the team is busy craning and bolting steel structures into place. These will form the framework for a brand-new storey—we’re literally building upwards! Apartments Taking Shape In the undercroft (which used to be open to the elements), insulated concrete slabs are now in place. We’re turning this area into modern apartments, with fire-resistant, acoustic, and moisture-proof boards going in to create high-quality spaces. Basement Milestone The last bits of asbestos have been removed (bye-bye, asbestos!), and the basement now has its clean air certificate. Next up, we’ll be installing a tanking system to prepare it for its new purpose. Coming Up The roof works will soon wrap up, the second-floor extension will start taking shape, and the internal work will push ahead across the floors. August is National Water Quality Month. Last year, Time shared this story of the massive cleanup efforts Paris undertook to clean the Seine in time for this year's Olympic swimming events. While progress was made, events were delayed due to high levels of bacteria. When swimmers finally did take to the water, the water they swam in still contained bacteria levels higher than what is considered safe in other parts of the world. Clean water: fishable, swimmable for everyone in perpetuity. That is part of the United States Clean Water Act. However, Water Quality is a global issue. The rulers of the later Twelfth Dynasty chose sun-dried mud bricks as building material for their pyramids, and it is the dark color of these that has given Amenemhet III's complex its name. In the matter of security for the royal burial places no further reliance was placed on the huge stone masses of the Old Kingdom, and these builders preferred to rely on a veritable labyrinth of corridors and chambers. But when the protecting casing of limestone had gone Amenemhet III's building began to weather, and now it stands in the landscape like a tower crowned with a huge mass of rubble. With a height of over 250 ft (78 m) and sides over 340 ft (105m) long it was once the largest building in the Middle Kingdom. However, it suffered a similar fate to the Bent Pyramid of Snefru, for the ground did not prove strong enough here either.
