Discom modernization is the need of the hour to enable them to undertake crucial initiatives such as demand forecasting, demand-side interventions, and renewable integration. These advancements are essential for supporting India’s Net Zero target, write Mr Mayank Gupta, Head – BD & Strategy, Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) & Mr Vishu Vishal, Sr Manager – Strategy, Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) for K-Xchange. The article says, “The modernization of the distribution network along targeted installation of 25 crores smart meters will not only help to further improve the AT&C losses but will also open opportunities for innovative models such as Peer-to-Peer (P2P) trading. Smart meter infrastructure can be leveraged to integrate with P2P platform, thereby creating a local energy market for trading of surplus solar generation from roof-top-solar within the Discom.” Read the insightful article in the 3rd-anniversary edition of K-Xchange here: https://lnkd.in/gFQ9qPUb #Kxchange #powersector #energyefficiency National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) Energy Efficiency Services Limited Anil Rawal Renu Tuniyal

#Polysilicon #market leader Tongwei Solar with its full integration through to #solar modules and the fourth largest polysilicon manufacturer #Xinte Energy with its complementary power plant business fared better in the first half of 2024 than GCL Technology Holdings Limited (main business: polysilicon and wafers) and specialized polysilicon manufacturer DAQO New Energy. However, the massive expansion of Tongwei’s PV business unit has driven up its #debt-to-asset ratio to a pretty high value of 70%.
The #polysilicon #price crash in #China has left its mark on the earnings of the world’s four largest polysilicon manufacturers. Tongwei Solar, GCL Technology Holdings Limited, DAQO New Energy and Xinte Energy, a subsidiary of Tbea Co., Ltd., all recorded a net loss in the first half of 2024. While the negative net #profit margins of market leader Tongwei and the fourth largest manufacturer Xinte were still in a single-digit range, those of GCL and Daqo slipped to -17% and -16%, respectively. More dramatic was the development in the second quarter: The net profit margins of GCL and Daqo slumped from a positive value in the first quarter to -45.7% and -54.5%, respectively. The new analysis from Bernreuter Research distills further key performance indicators from the semi-annual reports of Tongwei Solar, GCL Technology Holdings Limited and #Xinte Energy as well as from the quarterly results announcement of DAQO New Energy.
