🚨 Shout out to our very own Rachel Simmons, Senior Account Supervisor, for moderating the insightful panel “Creating Brand Advocates in Higher-Ed Research Teams” at #HigherEdUS, hosted by Times Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed 👏👏 As today’s prospective students become increasingly aware of the impact universities have on both local and global scales, faculty members play a crucial role in demonstrating how research initiatives are tackling important issues. Yet, engaging faculty as advocates for university brands isn’t always easy. The panel discussed key strategies for marketing leaders to drive faculty participation in reputation-building activities, including: • Building trust with faculty to encourage them to act as institutional spokespeople in a competitive landscape. • Strategically leveraging faculty social media presence to enhance brand awareness and showcase authentic knowledge leadership. • Packaging outreach opportunities in a way that ensures faculty buy-in and cooperation. Huge thanks to the esteemed panelists: Kenneth Carter, Founding Director of the Emory Center for Public Scholarship and Engagement at Emory University; Shannon Durkin, Senior Director of Research Communications at the University of Pittsburgh; Chris M. Kormis, President of Kormis Strategic Consulting; and Laura Snyder, Senior Director of Research Communications at Carnegie Mellon University. Great job, Rachel, and thank you for leading this important conversation on creating brand advocates in higher-ed! 🙌 #WeDontDoAverage #HigherEdMarketing #FacultyEngagement #ResearchAdvocacy

While balancing realism and optimism is challenging, this post by Philipp Pattberg gives me hope for future generations of change-makers who apply system thinking and critical thinking in their daily practice. LinkedIn community, what are your best tips for facilitating a session on system thinking? I’d love to hear your ideas and make them accessible to everyone coming across this post!
Happy to be back at VU! We are kicking off the academic year 2024/2025 with our theme ‘Reasons for Hope’. Like many others (I guess), I am struggling with the right mix of realism (the world is a pretty bad shape) and optimism (I still think we can avoid the worst). However, I increasingly realize that even our best intentions of remaining hopeful while also teaching the ‘facts’ (e.g. the last 13 month have been the warmest in in a row since measurements began) falls short. What students urgently need are two essential skills: System thinking (the ability to understand the inherent properties of systems instead of just analyzing their components); and Critical thinking (the ability to understand the fundamental properties of power and how these work through our daily lives and everything we take for granted). What makes me hopeful (and honestly also a bit excited) is the opportunity to go on a journey together with my students and explore system thinking and critical think as he most important skills of the 21st century. #ReasonsforHope

Period 2 Update: MARGA for Students! The pressure is on as teams face important decisions in this phase of the competition. The big question: Do they expand into the promising APAC market with one of their products or focus on maximizing current market potentials? It’s all about strategy, risk management, and forecasting future earnings. 🌍 Good news for the teams: The prices of pre-products are dropping, offering the chance to reduce production costs and improve margins. 📉💰 Ongoing efficiency projects are driving down recruitment and dismissal costs – but at the same time the teams have to prepare for a slight salary increase starting in period 3. Furthermore, the vacation season looms, requiring careful strategic planning to ensure smooth operations. 🏆 Shifts in the Rankings: Exciting moves in the leaderboard! Team 8 from ESMT Berlin successfully fights its way to the top. Congratulations Giovanna Mariotto, Pelin Erdil, Patricio Hempelmann and Raman Garg. Team 2 from ESMT Berlin as well made significant strides, pushing ahead to claim the second spot, while team 17 from ZHAW Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften now sits at third. The competition is getting tighter! What’s Next? The upcoming vacation season will test each team's planning and adaptability. Will they rise to the challenge or face setbacks? Stay tuned to see how these strategic decisions play out! #onlinecompetition #managementtraining #students #gamification #businessgame

🎉 Today, we're thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of the Career Center's Industry to Campus Lab, AKA "The ICL!" 🚀 This marks a significant milestone in Florida Atlantic University's journey, and we couldn't be more excited. 🎉 The ICL represents a true partnership between academic and student affairs, promising immense opportunities for our institution. 🤝 Already, we're seeing the impact of this collaboration, with the lab gaining national attention. 📰 This space is a hub for faculty to engage with industry leaders, bridging the gap between academia and the workforce. 💼 It's where discussions about skill gaps and the future of work thrive, paving the way for meaningful collaborations and innovations. 🌟 But that's not all – the ICL is also a training ground for faculty, equipping them with the tools and resources to integrate career readiness into their curriculum seamlessly. 💡 With over 400 faculty members already on board, we're excited to see this number grow as we expand our efforts. A big shoutout to Jennifer Fabricius, M. Ed., CCSP, Dr. Larry Faerman, Dr. Daniel Meeroff, Dr. James Capp, and Dr. Stephen D. Engle for their unwavering support and dedication to this initiative. 🙌 Without them, none of this would be possible. As we cut the ribbon today, it symbolized the opening of a lab and the opening of doors to new opportunities, collaborations, and possibilities. 🚪 Let's embark on this journey of innovation and excellence together, shaping the future of our university and empowering our students for success. 💪 #ICLOpening #Partnerships #Innovation #HigherEdSuccess #workforcedevelopment🎓✨ Melanie E. How gratitude helps us achieve our goals… 🙏 How often do we become so laser focused on our goals that we forget to appreciate what we have accomplished? Many driven professionals find themselves striving relentlessly toward their aspirations. While this drive is essential for success, it can sometimes mean we overlook the amazing milestones we've already achieved. Gratitude serves as a powerful reminder of our strengths, accomplishments, and the support we have around us. It helps motivate us to achieve even bigger goals! And this appreciation allows us to celebrate the present while keeping our eyes on the horizon. This past weekend, we hosted our bi-annual doctoral residency! We are so proud of our #1 Forbes ranked #DBA program and our students who are working so hard to achieve their big goals and dreams. And I was so grateful to all of them, to our faculty and staff and to Walsh College for being such a strong 102+ year beacon of excellence in teaching, learning and career advancement! So, as we approach this season of thanksgiving, let’s take a moment and consider how far we’ve come and appreciate the people and opportunities that we have every day! #gratitude #appreciation #goalminded #growthminded
