My most successful hire had 0 "sales experience.” (In fact, ran a local restaurant.) But she promised me she would outsell anyone else. 1. The first week was a disaster. To all the individuals out there who are reaching out to people especially HRs, you gotta understand that if you are reaching out to someone for help, then a bunch of other people are also reaching out to them. So instead of a simple “Hi” or “How are you”, WRITE them a detailed message, add all the information that they might need from your side to assist you in best possible way e.g your resume, link to a job post you wanna inquire about, current skill set, years of exp etc. People are busy, if someone takes the time to reply to you, make sure that they have sufficient information on their hand to help you out on that very instant. Coz maybe they don’t open your message again due to influx inside their inbox 💁🏼♂️ Treat your approach like sales 🥂

I once put my cell phone number in a Linkedin post. Then I added it to my profile. Why? Needed to hire sales people and hire them quickly. Passive candidates could come direct to the hiring source. Within 3 days I had over 500 text messages from people that were interested. Here's what I observed: - Most people sent very generic text messages - Most people didn't follow the very simple two steps I asked them to follow in the post. - I only got a small handful of phone calls - I only got ONE voice memo - ZERO videos This was a massive opportunity to stand out to the hiring manager and showcase how you might approach a prospect. Think about how you're separating yourself from the pack. Could be a job search. Could be a sales motion. Could be how you work amongst your team. Standing out is that hard - just takes a minute of thoughts and a bit of guts. PS: The one voice memo? She got an offer.

Recruiters are SALES people - can we stop saying we are not And if you’re not comfy with that you’re probably in the wrong job It’s all about your mindset and mentality - how you approach your tasks ahead Everything you do is a form of business development, and every action is an opportunity -Phone call -LinkedIn comment/post -New connection/contact -Meeting/VN/VM/email -Candidate qualification -etc etc etc You’re much better off being upfront and explaining “what’s in it for them” from the get-go, than dancing around the maypole with niceties We are ALL sales people in some way let’s face it, some choose to disguise it with elaborate titles or the mask of “building relationships” Of course you need to build relationships and there’s different ways to do that too that are more subtle - but ultimately everyone knows what the intention is 😂 Who’s with me on this?

For a good part of my recruiting career, I found this 4 letter word (#$%!) offensive. Sales 😏 I never could quite reconcile the idea that recruiting and sales were one in the same. Until, I went into business for myself. Customer acquisition is huge part of running and growing a successful business. I would need to deal with this flawed thinking pretty quickly in order to get traction. How did I do this? I played to my strengths. At the end of the day, sales is as simple as 👉 Clearly articulating your value prop. 👉 Sharing benefits of product or service. 👉 Why is your product/service superior? 👉 This all should be short and sweet. ✔️ KISS (Keep it simple sweetheart) 💕 Sales and recruiting are one in the same as it takes relationship building skills to be successful at both. There is nuance with both but one thing holds true for both without a doubt... They answer the question... ❓What's in it for me❓ Get good at answering that question and sales results and candidate hires will happen in no time. Agree? What am I missing?

5 Steps that will get you a sales position Dear aspiring sales rep, how many times have you applied online so far? 100?, 200?... More? Let me tell you, that is not your fault! The blame is on the system! The same system that treats candidates like a number. So here are 5 simple steps that will get you from a number to a real candidate! Develop your career plan: Define which sales field you belong to, according to your skills, passion, and goals. Personal brand: If you want recruiters to treat you seriously, you must have an excellent online presence. This includes your LinkedIn profile when you need to communicate how good you are and how much you can add to a company. Networking: It is not what you know but who you know. Creating good relationships and adding value would allow you to go from a stranger to a referral. Understand the role: Research the role you're applying for. Which skills are needed, and communicate why you are the best fit for the position! Master the interview: Go all in and use every tool that will add value (Career Portafolio, PPD ...) and impact the interviewer. Like this post for more sales content!

I used to think I was way too "chill" to be any good at sales. Rushing people into decisions felt wrong—almost manipulative. Who was I to push someone into making a choice now? But then I realized: without urgency, people stay in their comfort zone and avoid hard choices. Sales is about helping people get out of their own way and take action, so they don’t miss the chance to critically evaluate their problems. When done right, you save both your time and theirs. After all, if sales is about building a connection, both their needs and yours matter. Don’t use fake urgency—remember how annoying those "exploding" job offers were? Give them time to consider their situation. They'll have questions for you and themselves, but don’t let them procrastinate on the necessary steps to reflect, evaluate, and make a choice. Ultimately, it’s your job to help them make a clear decision, even if it’s not in your favor. Clear timelines and your genuine enthusiasm for solving problems will carry your deal through to the finish line.

You never wake up and think you have to become "literate" in sales. But recruitment is literally human and career shopping simplified! Think about it. As a candidate, you have to sell yourself and as an employer, you have to sell the vision, culture, mission, and values. As a third party, I have to sell the client to the candidates and vise versa. Which made me stop to think (because I personally never considered myself to be in sales. I always say, no matter what I do, I am in the business of people and building relationships)... I’m still trying to close my first sale. I'm on a mission to land my first role in sales, and I'm treating my job search as practice for the real deal. Here are three things I've learned so far: 1. The Follow-Up is Key: I've realized that people aren't intentionally leaving me hanging—they're just as busy as I am and often appreciate a good reminder (I know I do). 2. Create Your Own Experience: I submit five accounts with ten leads + resume to each role I apply for. Even if I don't get the job, the prospecting experience I'm gaining is invaluable. 3. Salespeople are Artists, Too: One of my favorite aspects of my previous role allowed was the deep need for me to be creative. It turns out that being creative gives you an edge in sales as well. Find ways to make someone open your email or give you a callback. (P.S. Sometimes people don't appreciate good art, and that's okay!)
