November is National Caregivers Month, a time to honor those who support us in life’s toughest moments. It also coincides with Thanksgiving—a holiday centered on gratitude. My heart is full of gratitude for the caregivers (family and friends) in my life and including an unexpected source: my workplace. For the past two years, I’ve been on a cancer journey. As anyone who’s faced this knows, it’s a time of uncertainty and emotional upheaval. The thought of job insecurity—on top of everything else—could have been overwhelming. But instead of stress, I was met with compassion, understanding, and unwavering support. Under the leadership of Vladimiro Sinatti, Rafal Aksnowicz, David Ruebenson and the kindness of Rosario (Russ) Curcuru and my cross-functional partners at Ferrero, I’ve experienced firsthand what it means to work for a company that prioritizes people. They laid out a plan for my return, always emphasizing one thing: health comes first. Their support gave me stability when my world felt unstable and allowed me to focus on healing without the added fear of losing my job. This Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on the profound impact of working for a company that values its people—not just for their contributions, but as individuals. For me, they weren’t just colleagues; they were part of my caregiving team, reminding me that community matters in ways we often don’t realize. To anyone in leadership or building workplace cultures, please know this: the care you show your employees in their most vulnerable moments is life-changing. To my leaders, team, and everyone who stood by me—thank you. You’ve given me more than a job. You’ve given me peace of mind, courage, and hope. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
