🗓 On July 2, 2024, the Milestone Group in Groningen held a stakeholders meeting to discuss ongoing projects and future collaborations. The session began with a brief introduction, highlighting the benefits of international cooperation. Participants emphasized the value of observing each other's work, recognizing similarities, and learning from one another, united in a common goal: helping non-European citizens find meaningful employment. We presented our baseline study, which resonated with many in the room. There was a collective sense of recognition – this is indeed the current situation in the northern Netherlands. 📈 One key point raised during the discussion was the fragmentation of local initiatives. Many small, local projects exist, but municipalities are often unaware of them. As a result, a potentially valuable program in a neighboring municipality might go unnoticed by coaches of non-European citizens, simply because the information isn’t accessible. Combining these initiatives in some form could enhance their visibility and impact. Another issue discussed was the lack of visibility for young non-European citizens. Although projects are often designed with this group in mind, participation remains low. Several initiatives were shared during the meeting, sparking a productive conversation. This dialogue may serve as the foundation for a shared database, bringing together all relevant initiatives. Finally, we extended an invitation to all stakeholders to join our upcoming peer review, encouraging further collaboration and participation. Interreg Europe

I was delighted to speak today at the FAIR-Impact National Roadshow in The Hague. I started with a little story. About 18 months ago, I embarked on a journey with a career coach to gain clarity on what truly matters to me in my career. One of the first exercises was identifying my personal values. This experience was eye-opening and I highly recommend it to everyone—it can help you understand what’s important in all areas of your life. For me, making a difference with empathy, using my creativity, constantly learning, and having my expertise recognized are my guiding principles. These values shape my life and decisions, reflecting what I stand for and aspire to be. When UNESCO published their recommendations on Open Science in 2021, I noticed a strong alignment between my personal values and the values of Open Research, such as quality and integrity, collective benefit, equity and fairness, and diversity and inclusiveness. Recognizing this alignment keeps me motivated and enthusiastic about promoting FAIR Data and Open Research. It’s easy to dismiss corporate values as clichés, but shared values can be powerful motivators. This is my WHY. Understanding why we do what we do at a fundamental level keeps us going, even when the journey is tough. Every time I face challenges or repetitive conversations, I remind myself that I believe in the power of FAIR data to make the world a better place. #OpenScience #FAIRData #PersonalValues #CareerJourney #Motivation
