In a study in JMCP of men who advanced from stage IV prostate cancer to stage IV castration-resistant prostate cancer, nearly two-thirds received substandard treatment before progression. Following disease progression, total health care costs were 1.5 to 2 times higher, and these men used more medical services, including hospital and outpatient visits. The recent approval of Adaptimmune's Teclera for synovial sarcoma marks another exciting breakthrough moment. This is only the second advanced therapy to receive approval for solid tumours, after Iovance Biotherapeutics, Inc. for Amtagvi earlier this year. This could be paving the way for cell therapies to reach far more indications and far move patients in the coming years. However, for immune cell therapies in particular, the side effects from a systemic delivery approach may be limiting their potential. 📲Interesting new study exploring remote monitoring for breast cancer care This recent study explored whether a remote symptom and medication adherence monitoring app, combined with tailored text messages, could improve outcomes for women with early-stage breast cancer starting adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET). The findings showed that while the app and text messages didn’t significantly boost AET adherence in the first year, they did improve symptom management and reduced overall and high-cost healthcare encounters.  This research highlights the potential of innovative technologies in cancer care.  We support innovative technology-driven improvements in cancer treatment to enhance patient care and outcomes.  #HealthcareTechnology #BreastCancer #PatientOutcomes
