Social Entrepreneurship is a term that is deeply personal for two Technovation Alumnae presenters at the recent TAIFA event, A World of AI Driven Tech: Addressing a Global Talent Gap. Both alumnae spoke passionately about paying attention in their own communities, asking questions, and learning to leverage technology to accelerate businesses that make a difference. Fatou Yeli Kourouma, a Technovation Alumnae and student at NYU Stern, spoke about developing Baara, a tracking software aimed at enhancing the impact of entrepreneurship incubators in developing regions like Africa. She credits Technovation with jump starting her journey, saying "it gave me the confidence and ability to use technology to make a change." Sidney Hough, a Stanford undergraduate on leave, built Chord, a venture-backed startup that automatically crowdsources & consolidates consumer opinion. When speaking about where her motivation comes from she explains that "the biggest thing I learned from Technovation was that you can take action in the world." Technovation's proven track record of empowering girls to enter the tech and entrepreneur sectors is one of the reasons it is a founding partner of The AI Forward Alliance.
