UNOPS supported UNGM in the development of the UN-wide Sustainable Procurement Criteria Tool by sharing its existing database. This is an important step to open up access to sustainability criteria to consider in procurement and support a One-UN interagency collaborative approach. Sustainability is not a static process, it is dynamic and ever-changing. The quality of this criteria can only be suitable, relevant and get better when feedback is provided, other examples are considered and improvements are shared. Please help support this effort so that we can work to improve it.
Designed to empower UN organizations, the 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐒𝐏) 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥 integrates ESG risks and Sustainability Procurement Portfolio Model (SPPM) to enhance decision-making across procurement categories. How can UN Staff Members use the SP Criteria Tool? 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟏: Policy Requirements Guidance ensures alignment with your organization's sustainable procurement policies. 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟐: SP Criteria Selection offers a tailored list based on product/service categories and sustainability themes like environmental sustainability and climate change. Procurement Act go live moved back until February 2025 - good or not? There are all kinds of thoughts on this, from our perspective taking further time to deepen and increase how greater value can be injected into communities is a good thing, although we feel for the innovators that were ready for a more flexible procurement process and now have to wait longer. We know that legislation changes are forthcoming in the UK and internationally for strengthening community sustainability so we will continue to work with our clients to get ready and be ready for change......... It's great to see thoughts, welcoming of the changes and even frustrations on what these changes will mean but what is even better is seeing the energy and momentum building for a fully developed eco system for the 'S' in ESG - no more tick boxes thankyou very much, especially when we have the scale of societal challenges to consider and respond to. The goal for our clients is being in a position where social value strategy and delivery are interoperable. We target and respond to the human need, developing environments that foster belief and nurture enterprise within the community. We do this because without these core components nothing will change. By collaborating across public, private and voluntary sectors we target the collective social value contribution throughout the FULL supply chains - we build the village, we build the environment and empower communities to make a difference in a big way! So whether it's a good or bad thing that there is a delay we hope that organisations are ready to adapt, ready to explore and innovate - we certainly are!
