The Tiny ( G👀gle) Keyboard Feature That’s a Big UX Win 🔥 Ever done quick math while typing? Most of the time, I calculate directly on my payment screen without reaching for a calculator. If you’re using Google Keyboard, solving basic calculations is effortless just type the math, and voilà ( here you go - French ), the result appears instantly (no equals sign needed)! 🧮 On the other hand, Apple Keyboard makes you take an extra step by requiring the = symbol to get the result. While not a deal-breaker, Google reduces the friction and makes this process intuitive and smooth. 🌟 This small feature might seem minor but can really improve efficiency. It’s a perfect example of how micro-interactions in design can save time and elevate the user experience. Google wins this round of “Keyboard UX”! 🎉 Which UX laws shine here? 1️⃣ Hick’s Law: Reducing cognitive load by simplifying the number of actions users need to take (Google skips the =). 2️⃣ Law of Least Effort: People naturally gravitate toward solutions requiring less effort. Google’s auto-calculate approach feels seamless. #UXDesignWins #GoogleKeyboard #UserExperience #DesignMatters #TechTips #UIUX #UXtrend #google #apple #keyboards

🎨 User-Friendly or Dumbed-down ? 🤔 In the world of product design, "user-friendly" can sometimes be seen as "dumbed-down." As Jay-Z said, "Dumb it down, double the dollars." Making things easy to use is the way, but it's a tricky path. Do we really need to treat users like they’re using a rotary phone? No, there is a difference between dumbing down a product and considering your user dumb! Here are my approaches: Intuitive Yet Robust: I often reference the Swiss Army knife of design. If you have time, read "The Design of Everyday Things" by Don Norman. Empower Your Users: Users are not just click-happy robots; they prefer logical workflows with an optimized number of clicks. Innovate Without Oversimplifying: No one likes vanilla. The goal is to maintain ease of use without stripping down features to the point of losing essence and excitement. Continuous Feedback: This is your secret ingredient. Listen to your users—it’s like adding salt to a dish. A shoutout to Sumit Vadodaria for introducing me to "The Mom Test" by Rob Fitzpatrick. What’s your advice? How do you balance keeping it simple yet sophisticated? #microsoft #crowdstrike

🥽 Spatial Word-of-Mouth We have been working with the Apple Vision Pro for about 2 months now. The device is amazing although the number of useful apps is still sparse and developing our own apps remains a challenge... But... A few apps, such as Air Draw, are great for creating "wireframes" ideas or scenario-prototypes/mockups (although the initial idea of this app is to satisfy people's need to create 3D art). For example -- how might user-generated content work in the age of spatial computing? Think of something like Yelp, where consumers can comment on buildings or even products in stores -- and other users of that platform can see those comments. No question -- this scenario is highly futuristic and AVP 1.0 is the wrong device to be used by a lot of people (and in public). But creating such short "spatial wireframes" is a great approach to get ideas on how to think about the role of consumers beyond Web 2.0. And... I am still suprised how "normal" other shoppers' reactions are when walking through a supermarket with a 🥽 in your face. --- 🚨 If you are interested in #XR & #SpatialComputing, let's connect. --- Disclaimer: Brand evaluations here reflect my personal opinion and I do have a strong preference for local breweries -- cudos to #Maxlrainer. Thank you, Annika L. Pezold, for creating the video.
