The lack of access to these menstrual supplies is known as period poverty, a state-wide public health concern. The Governor’s office is committed to achieving menstrual equity throughout the Commonwealth by providing educational resources, period products, and breaking down barriers to destigmatize and normalize menstruation and menstrual hygiene. In an effort to break the silence and stigma and to combat period poverty, May 28 has been proclaimed to be Menstrual Hygiene Day. #MenstrualHygieneDay #MenstrualHygiene #MenstrualHealth #EndPeriodPoverty #PeriodsAreNormal #PeriodAwareness #TeenHealth #WomensHealth

#RedCampaign We definitely agree with Ruth Kyamuwendo that for soo long menstrual hygiene issues have been a taboo in our societies. We need to normalise these conversations so we can help girls have safe and dignified periods. Ruth Kyamuwendo also implores us all to involve community elders in these dialogues since they have alot of influence and can help end the stigma and lack of period products. Together we can end period poverty and stigma. #EndPeriodPoverty #EndPeriodStigma

When thinking of period poverty, do not conceptualise it as a lack of access to period products alone. It is more than that. Period poverty is a lack of access to: (1) Period products (2) Toilets and sanitation facilities (3) Menstrual education All of these are a direct upshot of fmancial constraints and widespread socio-cultural menstrual stigma. Let's address this issue together. Join our march for #periodfriendlyschools on Menstrual Hygiene Day. Together, we can advance menstrual equity and indeed make the world a #periodfriendlyworld.

Breaking barriers, one story at a time Something that I am passionate about is Women's Financial Independence and women's health and hygiene. With six years of experience as a Child Birth Educator and now as the founder of Unipads, I've tried to spread awareness and make a tangible impact. Through our Menstrual Health Management (MHM) sessions in rural areas, my team and I have encountered numerous stories - some inspiring, others heart-wrenching, and a few downright shocking. Introducing "Stories from the Ground," a platform amplifying the voices of the underserved through untold narratives.
Period poverty does not only mean a lack of MHM products. It reflects on lack of knowledge, cultural barriers, lack of support system and even conversations. Our new series, ‘Stories From the Ground’, will feature candid interactions from our Menstrual Health Management (MHM) outreach programs, highlighting their challenges and experiences. Together, we must ensure that period poverty is no longer a “neglected public health issue.” #unipads #womenempowerment #periodpoverty #MHM #storiesfromtheground #menstrualcramps #PeriodTalk #menstrualawareness #menstruationeducation

How can your workplace or community help #endperiodpoverty? -Make period products as readily available as toilet paper in workplaces, public buildings and schools -Add a government subsidy at state and/or federal levels that assists with menstrual health care. -Use proper terms for anatomy and menstruation, and speak openly about these natural things which can help erase stigma We do not stigmatize and punish people who need to urinate on a regular basis. How is menstruation any different, except that it only happens to half of the population? Oh, that's right... that's why. STOP PERIOD POVERTY! #endperiodpoverty #endperiodstigma #menstruation #periods

In 2024, 20 states STILL tax period products. In a world where #periodpoverty is alive and prevalent, menstrual hygiene products are already costly- taxing these items doesn't help, especially when they're essential to the dignity of menstruators. On this #PeriodActionDay, help us continue our effort to fight period poverty and bust stigmas surrounding menstruation.

Too often, we approach period poverty as a “woman’s problem”, yet menstruation affects communities as a whole. Male involvement has shown great progress in achieving better menstrual health within communities. As such, men and boys at every level must be educated on menstrual health and join the fight for period equity. From teachers and students to business owners and government officials, we all have a role to play. Visit https://lnkd.in/dx-VRKZw to learn more. #AFRIpadsDignifiedFlows #AFRIpadsSustainableFlows
