Last week, we attended the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) 2024 annual conference 'Tackling the housing, health, climate and nature crises – the role of planning and placemaking'. As well as supporting the event with Greenbelt Group and Amos Ellis Consulting, Director Robert Kerr presented a talk about 'Planning holistically with urban network analysis' alongside other insightful speakers, and it was a fantastic event!   The overarching message of the conference was clear: tackling the housing crisis requires more than hitting numerical targets and it demands a visionary approach to creating better places. While ambitious government plans like the New Towns initiative show promise, speakers stressed the need for stronger delivery mechanisms, greater support for local authorities, and thoughtful design that integrates new homes with existing communities. Robert Kerr demonstrated how tools like geospatial analysis can enhance planning processes, ensuring developments not only meet housing needs but also deliver sustainable, thriving neighbourhoods.   At PLACE LOGIC, we’re determined to continue contributing to the conversation and driving forward innovative, people-centred solutions to the challenges of planning and placemaking.
