When worlds collide... These are two of my favourite brands. But gotta say, I'm not a fan of this. It's the #burberrystreetgate all over again.
Not like it couldn't work ever. The circle-to-search campaign featuring a reimagined Tube map on select Circle Line stations was beautifully done (if anyone remembers).
What's the difference?
People often forget station and transit line names have so-called brand equity, too. They evoke history, emotions, familiarity, and advocacy just like how the trademark Samsung Electronics itself would. In this case, mind you, the Old Street station brand is 123 years old!
Just as a CMO would insist on strict branding guidelines and identity when going into any co-marketing partnership deal, the same should have applied here.
Some see whimsical, I see hubris.
