In crafting your family pledge, clarity and relevance to your family's dynamics are essential. There's no one-size-fits-all solution; your plan should reflect your values, accommodate your family routines, and leverage digital media for enriching your experiences, not detracting from. Regularly revisit and adjust your plan (school breaks are a great time to do this) to align with your family's evolving goals. Remember, the best agreements involve dialogue with your children. Engage them in discussions about the importance of the pledge, emphasizing your shared goal of their well-being, safety, and enjoyment. www.learnwithheatherb.com . #digitalwellness #digitalwellbeing #parentingtips #screentime #mentalhealth #screentime #socialmedia

This week’s Highlight - "Duty of Care" Leading a team of colleagues and students on a mini-camping expedition to another campus was a highlight for me this week. Having worked so hard, to prepare and write their first major standardized test, it was a matter of necessity to create an opportunity for relaxation and play, away from the seriousness of a formal learning environment. During the camping, my colleagues and I were able to add some glitz and glam by organizing fashion shows, talent hunt, outdoor games, swimming, soccer, treasure hunt, movie night (complete with pop-corn and all) and more. More work for my colleagues and I right? Sure, it was indeed! But seeing the joy on the faces of the students and listening to them gisting about how much fun they all had, led to a unanimous agreement... It was well worth it😁! This annual end of year relaxation exercise is one of the ways we remind ourselves that we owe each other (including people around our professional and personal spaces) "the Duty of Care". The Duty of Care should be treated as a non-negotiable, as we navigate the complexities of our organizations and daily lives. Essentially, we need to remember that our most critical responsibilities are the well-being and safety of ourselves, teams and stakeholders. This is our "Duty of Care." When we prioritize this duty, we not only mitigate risks and prevent harm, but also nurture a culture of wellbeing, trust, respect and empathy which in turn, promotes a healthy home / school climate / work environment. Duty of Care is one of the practical ways of demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility and wellbeing while building a reputation for a healthier humanity. Let’s work together to uphold our Duty of Care intentionally by: 🎯 encouraging open communication. 🎯training and creating awareness. 🎯providing relevant resources towards this end. In what other ways do you perform your Duty of Care? Comment and share in the comment section. Remember … making our spaces safe and supportive for everyone to flourish is our basic "Duty of Care". I remain yours in lifelong learning, Stellamaris Austin-Iyeikhian #TheCommittedTeacher Haoma Worgwu #TGIF #Highlights #thoughtleader #Mentalhealthmatters #dutyofcare #20DayLinkedInChallengeWithHaoma #EducationandLeadership

My Reflection, on reflection during the Holiday Break This time of year offers me a unique opportunity to pause, recharge, and reflect on my professional journey this quarter. I don’t often use the holiday break to reflect as I’m so busy trying to recharge or make the most of a sleep in. 🙈 After a very insightful conversation with Zaynab Salim, I dedicated some time over the last few days to reflect. What a journey it has been! Reflection allows us to celebrate Successes, learn from the challenges faced thus far and take a moment to acknowledge and reconnect with your purpose. I found it so liberating to celebrate the achievements I have had so far (no matter how small). My advice to you all: Don’t always dwell and focus on the negative/ failures. The biggest part of my personal reflection what to reflect on my ‘why’. Why did I choose to become an educator? Reconnecting with my passion and reigniting my sense of purpose and motivation. Let’s make the most of this holiday break to cultivate self-awareness, refine our practices, and return to our classrooms and organisations with renewed energy and focus. I encourage you all to embrace this reflective journey and see where it takes you. Let me know if you have any lightbulb moments! 💡 #Education #ReflectivePractice #HolidayReflection #EducatorWellbeing

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗽? I sometimes get deeply invested with my own vision of success when planning something for the family. Whether it’s an all-age-appropriate getaway, nutritious lunchboxes, structured timetables and learning activities, balancing perfection with reality often feels like chasing the wind. I get so flustered when things don’t go as planned. My limited window of time outside of BAU only makes it harder to feel like “I’m getting this right”. I came across an article that shifted my perspective. It emphasized the importance of letting go of unrealistic standards and cultivating flexibility. Perfection is unattainable, period. Case in point looking back at my past two weeks – not all went right, yet the spontaneity that emerged inspired creativity, strengthened message retention and helped create unforgettable moments. When we embrace imperfections and go with the flow, we create space for authenticity. Our genuine acceptance of our strengths, limitations and setbacks influences our behaviour and tone around our kids. That’s when we create an environment that is more nurturing, accepting, and supportive. We can then foster a deeper connection. So here’s to channelling less of Bree’s need for perfection and leaning in on the chaos of life instead. #ParentingJourney #ChildDevelopment 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/gj2qZAtr

In our fast-paced professional environment, it's easy to get caught up in daily tasks and forget to prioritize our own well-being. The constant drive to achieve can lead to burnout, affecting not only our personal health but also our ability to work effectively and inspire our teams. Recalibrate Your Focus: Gain clarity on your personal and professional goals, ensuring alignment with your core values and mission. 3. Recharge Your Energy: Learn strategies to boost your well-being, ensuring you have the energy to lead effectively. 4. Re-center Your Leadership: Rediscover your passion and purpose, enhancing your impact as a leader. 5. Refuel Your Inspiration: Engage with like-minded peers, share experiences, and find motivation to drive positive change. 6.
