There’s just so much great Out-of-Home creativity in Canada that yes, the industry has two annual award shows: the COMMB Awards in May and the AdClub of Toronto OOH Showdown in the fall (Nov. 4). These shows are increasingly on an agency’s/brand’s radar judging by the significant number of submissions they receive every year. How's your Paris Olympics ad experience? I've watched live events, replays, highlights, and primetime coverage and here's a short summary of my ad experience: - NBC and Peacock increased the number of ad breaks over typical streaming ad breaks. The very first thing I watched was a replay of an event and there were 16 ad breaks in 2hrs! 😧 - The number of ad breaks has gotten lower as the games have gone on. - Unexpectedly high amount of ad breaks in replay events. You know you'll see ads in live content even when on a paid ad free plan, but it was a surprise to see so many ad blocks in time shifted content like replays and highlights. - Most of the ads I have been served have been typical national advertisers and of course the sponsors. - Auto ads most prevalent have been Toyota (sponsor), Hyundai and Kia. (National, not dealer) - 2 local based business ads, both credit unions (BECU and KFCU). Oddly each time I saw them they were back to back in the same ad block 🤔. - A miss by local businesses who could increase their awareness without having to buy big $$ broadcast or cable packages. - Big pharma of course has its presence. - Thank You for the no political ads!! 🙏 - Advertisers that missed the mark in their targeting of me: Bobcat and Valvoline.
