Day 5 – Our Airline Partners On this fifth day before KM Malta Airline's inaugural flight, KM640, to Catania on 31 March, we would like to express our gratitude and thanks to our Codeshare Partners, namely Lufthansa Group (comprising Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss), Air France, ITA Airways, Royal Durch Airlines (KLM), Air Baltic, and Qatar Airways with whom we have entered into Codeshare Agreements well before the start of our operations. Our Codeshare Partners are key cornerstones of our network strategy since they significantly broaden our reach to Europe and beyond, enabling greater connectivity for our customers to and from Malta. These partnerships will strengthen KM Malta Airlines' market position and offer passengers enhanced connectivity and a more comprehensive range of travel options. Our Codeshare Partnerships will provide our customers with seamless travel journeys, from check-in at their departure airport to baggage claim at their final destination. KM Malta Airlines' strategy is to fly to key passenger and cargo hubs in Western Europe and to attach to the bigger airlines through Codeshare Agreements and Interline Partnerships. Indirect connectivity from these airports is, therefore, critical as a gateway to the rest of the world. #kmmaltairlines #aviation #travel #aviation #airlines #europe #malta #visitmalta #lufthansa #itairways #airfrance #klm #airbaltic #qatarairways

Swiss International Air Lines has maintained a steady 50% to 55% of seat capacity at Zurich Airport Ltd for the last decade. Add in the growth of its leisure subsidiary Edelweiss Air AG and its parent company Lufthansa, and Lufthansa Group has maintained a very healthy 65% to 70% of capacity at Europe's 19th busiest airport. AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data shows that after Swiss, Edelweiss Air, Eurowings and Lufthansa the other airlines that make up the airport's top 10 in 2024 are easyJet (up from ninth in 2023), British Airways, Chair Airlines, Emirates, Austrian Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. That's right - no sign of Ryanair or Wizz Air, neither of whom have ever served the airport. However, Vueling Airlines and Pegasus Airlines do serve Zurich. This year has seen Zurich welcome EGYPTAIR from Cairo and Air India Limited from Delhi, as well as the return of TUNISAIR from Djerba and Tunis.

The return trip features an 8-hour and 15-minute flight from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur, and an 11-hour and 20-minute leg back to Istanbul. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has announced it will start flying from London Luton Airport from next April. The airport is currently dominated by Europe's three biggest (U)LCCs - Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air. These three carriers have accounted for more than 95% of seat capacity at the airport since the pandemic. The only other airlines that have operated regularly at Luton in 2024 have been TUI Airways, EL AL Israel Airlines, FLYONE, SunExpress and Romania's Dan Air. Jet2.com's 35 weekly departing flights next summer is likely to make it the airport's fourth biggest carrier with just over 3% of flights. According to AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data, in August 2024 easyJet offered 502 weekly departures, Wizz Air 391 and Ryanair 154.

Brisbane and Thailand are reconnected again with direct flights from Jetstar Airways. For the first time, Jetstar will take off from Brisbane to Bangkok this afternoon, becoming the only carrier to offer direct flights from #Queensland to Thailand’s capital. Operating three times a week using Jetstar’s fleet of 11 widebody 787 Dreamliners, the new service is expected to carry more than 100,000 people a year. It’s been almost five years since any airline offered direct flights between #Brisbane and Bangkok. With a flight time of just over eight hours, Jetstar’s non-stop service will significantly reduce the current journey time via indirect routes, making it quicker and easier for Queenslanders to get there. Inbound passengers will also boost Queensland’s visitor economy, with the new flights part of a massive expansion of Jetstar’s services in the Sunshine State.
