CIMSPA 🤝 Armed Forces We’re delighted to announce the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) has signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The institute enhances the career opportunities and professional development of the sport, fitness and leisure sector’s workforce. CIMSPA itself has more than 20,000 members, including current and former members of the Defence Community. Armed Forces Week 2024 🇬🇧 The RFCA YH maintains links with the community and delivers employer engagement on behalf of Defence. Regional employers play a huge role in supporting our armed forces. In Yorkshire and the Humber, we have over 800 organisations and businesses who have pledged to support the UK military. They are Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) signatories and of this 800+, they are also part of the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) where employers are recognised for their practices and policies that back our armed forces. This can include recruitment processes that seek 📌employment of ex-service personnel 📌additional leave for employees who are reservists who require time off for deployment and training 📌cadet force adult volunteers who deliver the cadet programme 📌employment flexibility for families of those who serve. ERS support levels - Gold, Silver, Bronze- are awarded annually based on an employee’s or organisation’s activity and efforts that support the forces community. In the National Defence Academy, there was always a proper way of doing things, how you eat, stand, dress, talk, move or even breathe. Any cadet not meeting up to the standards set by his seniors is bound to get a one way ticket to Hell City. But one important thing I've learnt in my six terms in NDA because of this is that I never overlook details anymore. The observatory skills of an Armed Forces officer is such that can't be paralleled. Showing military appreciation can be as simple as saying, “thank you.” Or supporting military causes. Or jumping out of a perfectly good Army aircraft. Wait. What? Educators and community leaders from across California did just that to learn about the US Army's Golden Knights during a “Tandem Camp” held in Byron, CA. Golden Knights Tandem Team members paired with participants providing training (and reassurance) to participants. Once ready, three pairs at a time loaded into the Golden Knights aircraft strapped together, ascended to 12,000 feet, and jumped. The Golden Knights are made up of several expert teams to include the Demonstration Team, the Tandem Team, the Competition Team, the Exhibition Team, the Aviation Detachment, and numerous other support personnel to include logisticians and aerial videographers. Their primary mission is engaging the public in support of recruiting. Programs where the military engage with the public take place all over the country on a regular basis. Draken flying high with £173 million military deal “Through this ground-breaking contract, we will continually innovate to improve their training experience.” Aviation firm Draken has secured a “ground-breaking” £173 million contract with the UK Ministry of Defence to train RAF, Navy and Army personnel. The agreement will support more than 200 jobs and retain Draken’s operational base at Teesside International Airport for at least four years.
