The core objective of research is to evaluate the biochemical properties of different genotypes grown at three different sites and to test their potential as a healthy food. The first experiment evaluates 9 genotypes: new and traditional ones, while the second one tests four genotypes which have either red, yellow, or white kernel. #CREDITVibes #NutribreedingHub #HorizonEU #TwinningProjects Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eVViCz-c

In Madras, Oregon, we’re initiating an exciting trial to explore innovative solutions for managing verticillium wilt in leaf mint. This study integrates chloropicrin-based soil fumigants with a biological fungicide containing Bacillus spp., aiming to suppress pathogens and enhance crop health. By combining proven soil fumigation techniques with cutting-edge biological approaches, we’re working to develop effective and sustainable management strategies for leaf mint growers. Stay tuned as we share updates on this promising research. 📸 credit: Dr. Maxwell Handiseni #TridentAg #soilhealth #soilfumigation #leafmint #chloropicrin #fieldtrial

💡#DYK? The Multilateral System of the International Plant Treaty facilitates the global exchange of potato genetic material. 🤝 Through our partnership with the Pacific Community-SPC and collaboration with CGIAR, International Potato Center (CIP), and the Crop Trust, CePaCT gains access to essential plant varieties from international gene banks, facilitating the long-term conservation and availability of diverse crops. "This variety’s release follows years of rigorous research trials by our team to ensure its suitability and robustness for our environment. It underscores our collaboration with CePaCT and the importance of accessing the global pool of PGRFA hosted by other genebanks. As a member of the International Plant Treaty, Fiji benefits from this treaty, as shown by this variety release. This new variety will significantly bolster our food security and agricultural resilience." - Shalendra Prasad, Director of Research, Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, Fiji Read more 👉 https://bit.ly/3LxcOej #ItAllStartsWithTheSeed🌱 #FoodSecurity #Cropdiversity #ClimateChange FAO UN Environment Programme Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT World Farmers' Organisation IPBES Seed Savers Exchange International Seed Federation RADIANT EU The Biodiversity and Climate Change Network (BCCN).
