With this perspective we should focus completely on climate adaptation. We should invest largely in ecosystem restoration, resilient farming, curing water cycles to keep fragile regions liveable instead of investing in war and other wastes of money, energy and lives.

👉Understanding the Carbon Cycle and its Impact! ➡️Overview: The carbon cycle involves the movement of carbon through Earth’s atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere. ➡️Human Impact: Activities like burning fossil fuels disrupt the cycle, leading to increased CO2 levels, ocean acidification, and global warming. ➡️Restoration Strategies: Solutions include transitioning to renewable energy, sustainable forestry, carbon capture, and individual responsibility . ➡️Education: Experts play a crucial role in educating the public and policymakers about the carbon cycle and promoting sustainable practices. 🌍 👉The carbon cycle is a critical natural process for regulating Earth's climate. Explain the various components of the carbon cycle and how human activities are disrupting its delicate balance. Discuss the potential consequences of this disruption❓ Read in Detail:👇 https://lnkd.in/gmKdjGRp #Examlife #upsc #upsctogether #upscenvironment #upscexam #Prelims2024

Climate change is increasingly effecting ecosystem services due to the devastating depletion of our Earth’s natural capital. Examples of these ecosystem services include pollination, erosion control, flood and storm protection, disease control and soil quality. Industries that are dependent on these ecosystem services are seeking systematic and application-oriented data and insights to assess risks and invest in adaptation strategies. Tomorrow Pollination Managing Director Jane "Carter" Ingram will join this live webinar which will address the emerging need to understand how physical risks associated with climate change will impact the natural capital and biodiversity that supports economic activity. Register to join this timely discussion: https://okt.to/oknJfT tomorrow at 10am ET / 3PM BST. #naturepositivesummit #cop16 #naturalcapital #ecosystems

🌟 Happy Monday news! 🌟 Did you know that the cleanest air in the world is found at Tasmania's Kennaook/Cape Grim? This remote spot on the northwest tip of Tasmania has been key in tracking changes in the global atmosphere for nearly 50 years! The clean air is helping scientists from Australia and the US analyze "super-cooled" liquid clouds over the Southern Ocean. These clouds impact climate models, so understanding them better can improve long-term climate forecasts. The CAPE-K project, a collaboration between the Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO, and the US Department of Energy, is using advanced instruments at Kennaook/Cape Grim to study these unique clouds. This project will provide new data to climate scientists worldwide, helping us predict and prepare for future climate changes. The air here is so clean that it is bottled up and stored in an archive, allowing scientists to measure changes in air quality over the years 🌎🌬️. Take a deep breath. This Tasmanian cape has the purest air in the planet and it's helping scientists unravel a climate mystery

🌫️ Damaged peatlands contribute 5-6% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making their protection and restoration crucial for addressing climate change on an international scale. 🔬 Research conducted at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has extended the global peatland inventory and monitored the impacts of restoration. 🌱 This research for the National Trust, led by geographers, monitored the impacts of an erosion gully blocking initiative, and was employed to restore the most intact example of blanket bog in the Peak District. Blanket bog is an area of peatland, forming where there is a climate of high rainfall and a low level of evapotranspiration, allowing peat to develop over large expanses of undulating ground. 🌐 Adding these new areas to the global peatland inventory has greatly enhanced our understanding of the distribution of blanket bogs and has also informed national and international peatland monitoring initiatives and management policies, designed to preserve biodiversity and mitigate against climate change. Rising #CO2levels pose a grave threat to marine life, with 90% of 25,000 marine species at high risk of extinction. Urgent action is imperative to mitigate this threat. #CO2Capture technology offers promise in reducing emissions, which, if implemented on a large scale, could help alleviate the impact on marine and other ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/d8esu_6R Medscape #co2reduction #ClimateCrisis

#tippingpoints in terrestrial systems - Thousands of natural processes regulate the #earth’s #climate - Together, the planet’s #oceans, #forests, #soils and other natural #carbonsinks absorb about half of all human #emissions - In 2023, the hottest year ever recorded, preliminary findings show the amount of #carbon absorbed by land has temporarily collapsed: #forest, #plants and #soil – as a net category – absorbed almost no #carbon "Nature has so far balanced our abuse. This is coming to an end." - Johan Rockström, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research https://lnkd.in/ee-uFzAf #climatecrisis #biodiversityloss #pollution
Trees and land absorbed almost no CO2 last year. Is nature’s carbon sink failing?
