How do you stand out as a motion designer? These are some key things I keep in mind when I create something. 1) Know what your art preference is. I gravitate towards 2D animation a lot so you'll see lots of that in my work 😎 2) Experiment and explore. Experimenting helps you reach a wider audience but that doesn't mean diluting your art preference. Learn to implement your art style in your exploration. Mixed media type stuff is a good way to experiment. 3) Learn new things, make sure you don't lag behind in tech. I did this animation on Fable and it took me half a day! 4) Put your work out there! Utilise social platforms to display your work! #madewithfable #motiondesign #motiongraphics #animation #design #motion #graphicdesign #digitalart #art #fable #animation #mdcommunity #mograph #motionlovers #illustration #adobe #dart #motiondesigner #render #vfx #mgcollective #genAi #motiongraphic #blender #creative #photoshop #artwork #video

The process of adding animation to bring an already strong brand to life. • Having a clear idea on paper makes creating styleframes and designs faster. The animation for this piece came together quickly because I drew a clear vision from the beginning that aligned with the script. • Using textures, brushes, and color brings the images together in a cohesive design. The branding for the University of Colorado is already strong and established so I aimed to bring textures and brushes into the mix creatively. • Simple animation and illustrations can breathe life into your visuals and help strengthen your message and goals. The CU Online Store had a lot of complex parts to it but by using illustration and motion we were able to communicate the goals efficiently and effectively. What’s your process? How do you build a cohesive brand from sketch to animation? #branding #motionbranding #motiondesign #graphicdesign #animation #visualidentity #styleguide #brandguidelines #illustration

Fellow Motion Designers! I have noticed a trend where creating toolkits and templates in After Effects has become more and more of a niche skillset. Personally, I love creating a setup with controllers and sliders that might seem overkill at first, but later prove its value when the time comes to art-direct the animation. Little tweaks could prove to be a huge pain and require shifting hundreds of carefully coordinated keyframes. When your setup is mostly driven by controllers, this simplifies your workflow so much! Even if it's not a toolkit that will be put in the hands of clients, I often prefer a slightly more complex setup, just because it makes it easier to adjust and get lots of secondary animation built in 'for free'. Is it an underrated lost skill, too time consuming, or are there simply not enough resources out there to really dive deeper into creating really responsive kits? #MotionDesign #AfterEffects #animation #design #graphicdesign #template #toolkit

Starting off in motion design? Here are tips to keep in mind by Esteban González. I have also added others that personally helped me too: - Practice using the graph tool and familiarize yourself with animation principles. This made a huge difference for me. Books like "Animation Survival Kit" by Richard Williams might seem like they are only for traditional animation; however, if you take the principles and try to apply them to the motion field, it makes a total difference. - Stay organized by creating folders and managing your After Effects files. You will save time and not be loved to work with. - Learn film vocabulary to enhance your communication skills and showcase your expertise. For example, Shots, transitions, what's voiced off, etc. - Experiment with different styles and try to replicate them to understand what makes them unique. If you like a certain type of style, push it until you are an expert on it. That's your motivation to keep moving. Motion designers, do you have any additional tips for beginners? What do you wish you had known when you were starting out? Or what helped you personally? #MotionDesign #Animation #TipsForBeginners
📀 Getting into motion design 📀 If I had to just bring a few points to a designer that want to start into Motion design. I would first mention that is pretty much graphic design with animation - bringing static designs to life. And then, to start: Learn animation principles - crucial for any style. You already have some design background, with the simplest tools of After Effects, as the transformation ones. You can achieve a lot, learn the graph tool and practice those animation principles. Practice basics in After Effects with simple shapes. Shape Layers will get you longer than you expect. Try recreating inspirational pieces from Behance. Once you starting stepping forward, try to replicate some animation you see. Even if you don't achieve the result, will get you thinking what are the steps to get to it, and that is already a huge exercise. Animating the "Creative Developer" text This type of animation is new to me; I haven't experimented with text animations in this way before. Most of my previous text animations have involved position changes with masking effects. However, I realized that wouldn't be the best fit for the font, so I came up with something new. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to work it out! I would love to hear your thoughts on it. ^_________^ #animation #webdevelopment #webdesign #uidesign #uxdesign #webdevelopment #swiss #minimalist #clean #typography #branding #graphicdesigners #graphicdesign #typosters #interactiondesign #creative #portfolio #brandinginspiration #personal #grid #digital #typeposter #uidesign #posterunion #fontdesign #swisstypography #posterdesigncommunity #typoart #graphicaai #posterindex #editorialdesign
