Why Ecommerce SEO is Different from Traditional SEO 🛒 I am here to explain my views on Ecommerce SEO! If you are running an ecommerce business or thinking about it remember that Ecommerce SEO is not the same as traditional SEO. If you are thinking, "SEO is SEO, right?" I thought the same thing when I first started understanding deep into ecommerce SEO a few years ago. But trust me, there's a big difference. Let me explain what I have learned. 1. Product Pages Are not Just "Pages". They are Sales Machines🚀 When I first started working on SEO for ecommerce stores, I focused a lot on blog posts and service pages, thinking that would be the main source of traffic. But then I realized. The real money is in your product pages. 😅 I will never forget working with a client who had amazing products but was getting very little traffic . After taking a deep dive into their product pages, I found they were way too generic and did not have enough detailed information or high-quality images. I revamped the descriptions, added customer reviews, and optimized the images and within a few months, their traffic and sales shot up! It was a game changer. If your product pages are not well-optimized, you are missing out on the chance to make a sale. Think of your product pages as the storefront window, if it’s not attractive and clear, people will walk on by. 🏃♀️ 2. Keywords Matter, But It’s All About Specifics With traditional SEO, you can get away with targeting broad terms like "SEO tips" or "how to rank better on Google." But for ecommerce SEO, it’s all about specific product related keywords. I learned this the hard way when I worked with a fashion ecommerce site. They were targeting general keywords like “shoes” or “fashion accessories,” but these terms were just too broad. 🚀 We switched to more specific, long-tail keywords like "red leather boots for women" and "best sneakers for running" and that’s when things started to click. 💡 If you are not targeting those transactional keywords, you are probably missing out on customers who are ready to buy right now. 3. User Experience (UX) Can Make or Break a Sale Let me tell you a quick story. A few years ago, I helped a client with their ecommerce site who had some great products, but their site was painfully slow. I will never forget how frustrated I was while navigating it pages were taking forever to load, and I could barely find anything. 😬 We worked on improving their page speeds, made sure the site was mobile-friendly, and simplified the checkout process. The difference was night and day.
