https://lnkd.in/eJsUrnes There's a surprising level of variability here; Reddit, Twitter, and Tumblr have all had, at various times, thriving communities revolving around drug use, counterfeit clothes, etc. (Typically the most prolix posts come from the stimulants-focused ones.) These groups tend to have fairly elaborate, vigorously-enforced rules, particularly around asking for or offering help in actually making these transactions. And, as you might imagine, a very popular topic amongst drug addicts is "How can I get more drugs?", which means moderators have to be very active. So one paradox is that if some topic is allowed on one site but not another, the site that allows it is going to have a much more complex set of rules. The closer you get to the line, the more community norms have to capture every little wiggle that line takes. So, speech tends to be policed much more carefully in parts of sites that only exist because the site is dedicated to free speech.

Big changes ahead for social media! Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X might soon be held liable for not controlling fake information, defamatory allegations, and ignoring user requests. With the absence of a human oversight mechanism, it's only a matter of time before Indian courts step in with hefty penalties. Remember the case of Australian lawyer George Defteros? Google had to pay up, and similar repercussions could be on the way here in India. This is a pivotal moment for digital responsibility and user protection. It's time for social media giants to step up and take accountability. What changes do you think are necessary for a safer online environment? #SocialMediaReform #DigitalResponsibility #LegalAccountability

Is this issue just related to us? NOPE! This shit happened even to other people! Again at least Art 20, 17, 16 of the Swiss Constitution and Art 26, 19 of United Nations rights should be used during the court of Facebook for crimes done. Let we remember this is just a small amount of the total crimes done by Facebook! NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SOCIAL ACCOUNT / PAGE AND YOUR BANK ACCOUNT / WAGE! If there are crimes related to the bank or wage, we consider this as a crime. If there are crimes related to social, we just give a shit to that! Seriously, it's time to stop this shit! and it's time that police invest more time on social networks and internet! via #GenRevolution #Telegram #GenRevolutionTelegram #GRT #GRTelegram #Announcements #Annonces #Aankondigingen #Annunci #Ankündigungen #Anúncios #Kunngjøringer #Anuncios #TelegramAnnouncements #TelegramAnnonces #TelegramAankondigingen #TelegramAnnunci #TelegramAnkündigungen #TelegramAnúncios #TelegramKunngjøringer #TelegramAnuncios

📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://lnkd.in/gyxHhngp Debates as Politics cum Election Derlsiderata If anything distinguishes the US general election, look no further than the debates which runs through before party primaries and then the big one for candidates. I am one for thorough knowledge of issues, clarity of understanding, detailed marshaling of ideas and defending knowledge grounds with facts. Nigerian politics and her drivers have too much to unlearn relearn and learn. A situation where former President Muhammadu Buhari could not respond to questions extempore at a climate meeting, having first avoided a debate with former Vice-presidemt Atiku Abubakar, going on to cause us serious asphyxiation in his responses on Kadaria's pre-election show, all go to attest to the condiments of unaccounatbility and eulogized incompetence Presidemt Bola Ahmed Tinubu iced the cake of incompetence, which could never have been edible, from the Chatham House's delirious showing, to his ghostly absence at a debate before the 2023 election, his ... and I mean the current president is a culmination of the many unwanted experiences in politics.at the level.of the presidency. Vivek Ramaswany is seeking the candidacy of the Republican party for the November, 2024 US elections, and I see him provide his own position on major domestic and global issues, with Nikki Haley and Ron Desantis looking on. His position on idiscourses highlighted might engender counter positions, but being able to speak and thus show that he understands the issues create an enabling environment to make better choices at the polls. If he eventually gets the Candidacy of the Grand Old Party, at least he would have impressed upon American electors the ideas he stands for. Nigeria deliberately scuttles her chances at capable political representation, even when candidates seeking public offices reject coming to debates, yet one finds poverty-stricken minds put their thumbs on ballot papers to have them ride into offices, following which the suffering of the unwise electors continue. I refuse to get tired of what must help Nigeria become better Be the Light! @mautin777

"You saw that in the trending in the UK topics, you saw that disinformation cropping up under searches for Southport..." [1] We are seeing some improvements to slow the spread of disinformation/misinformation. WhatsApp have said "In 2020, we set additional limits for messages that have been forwarded many times (at least five times), so that they can only be forwarded to one chat at a time. Back then we saw a drop of over 70% in these kinds of messages." [2] With the ongoing UK riots, this is putting a large spotlight on online platforms and their role in the spreading of false information. "[X] could more fully enforce its rules against hate speech, to at least temporarily limit the accounts that are posting it, or it could rethink its verification tools that mean anyone can pay to have their content boosted." [3] Here's hoping we see these changes. Stay safe everyone. [1] https://lnkd.in/esCp8qT6 [2] https://lnkd.in/e6x7Qqyd [3] https://lnkd.in/eSPws4rV

The recent suspension of several accounts on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has raised concerns about potential social media restrictions ahead of the upcoming elections in India. The government's orders targeting pro-farmer accounts have sparked criticism, with rights groups and affected individuals viewing it as a crackdown on dissent. X, expressed disagreement with the government's actions, emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression. The platform has a pending appeal against previous orders, and experts note that it's uncommon for big tech firms to publicly comment on Indian regulations. The context involves a larger debate on online content regulations in India, with concerns about selective application and lack of transparency. It's crucial to consider the legal implications of such actions and their impact on freedom of speech, especially in the context of an upcoming election where misinformation and hate speech targeting minorities are on the rise. #linkdinpost #technologylaw #socialmedia #freedomofspeech #socialmedialaw #contentregulation #india #farmers
