Why there is zero trust in shippers ! ______________________________ So it happened again (3rd time over a period of 6 months). We promised “contractual space” to a well known forwarder (with a very well known British clothing “and food” brand as its client). Named a/c special rate with a defined volume and validity. Volume was significant - from several ports in Asia to Dubai! We reserved the space, equipment and most importantly: we declined other bookings as we were overbooked (ie we denied ourselves the chance to take “spot” bookings at higher revenue .. in order to honour the contract we committed to). We told the ffw “this is now a contract”. If your client pulls out - we will still invoice you ! Sure enough … yesterday all the bookings were cancelled (delays and port congestion was the reason given).. yes all container operators face this problem in Asia and Middle East right now. That’s not a valid reason for cancellation of all forward bookings. So .. the contract is really not a contract. Only, when it suits the importer. We have asked the ffw not to offer this end clients business to us again. It adds no value to our long term organic growth and volume strategy. We can never rely upon such a client. And this in a nutshell is why “shippers” and transport companies are constantly at war with each other. There is no “partnership”. There is no honour. There is no long term strategic commitment. We have learned our lesson (stubborn as I am, it took me a while to accept that such a global brand name acts with zero honour). From now on : we stick to our strategy: spot all the way. No “M”ercy & no “S”hipments for this importer. And yes : we will invoice the ffw in full. We expect to be paid. We had a deal ! #cargogulf #fcl #nvocc #zerohonour

Embargo Dnata DWC & DXB TERMINALS 12TH -14TH FEB 2024 What is happening?: ------------------------------- We wish to notify you of an important development affecting cargo operations. As per the latest directive, Dnata has announced a temporary import embargo on general cargo for the duration of 48 hours, starting from 12th February. This embargo is applicable to all carriers, with the sole exception of Emirates airline as they operate separately the ground handling. Please be aware that this will affect both DWC and DXB terminals. The reason behind this decision is a major surge in cargo volume coupled with a system cutover recovery period. The implementation of this embargo is deemed essential to effectively manage the current workload, clear the existing backlog, and return to normal operational levels. Key Points to Note: - The embargo commences from 12th February for 48 hours. - It is applicable to all carriers, except Emirates airline. - Both DWC and DXB terminals are affected. - This measure is temporary, to restore normal operations post a surge in volume and system recovery. During this period, we ask for your understanding and cooperation. It's crucial to adjust your planning and operations accordingly. We recommend addressing any urgent issues directly with the affected parties and exploring alternative arrangements if necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth process as we tackle this challenge.
