The Assist™ Hydrophilic Coating offers a high-performance lubricious surface suitable for medical implant applications, effectively reducing friction. This technology has a longstanding history and has been applied to various surfaces and shapes without causing particulate formation or delamination within the patient's body. The hydrophilic coating has been successfully applied to a range of medical devices, including those with highly movable components such as large balloon catheters, joint devices, and delivery devices. Utilising a dual-factor approach, Assist™ enhances biocompatibility and stability, thus reducing complications at the interface between the device and the body. Additionally, the coating prevents the deposition and adhesion of cells onto the device surface. In recent years, the medical device industry has witnessed remarkable advancements, particularly in the realm of surgically implanted devices. Many of these medical implants are in continuous contact with blood, posing one common constraint - hemocompatibility. One of the proven medical solutions to enhance blood compatibility in biocompatible coatings is through surface modification. BioInteractions have developed Astute®, an antithrombogenic coating which has been used successfully on chronic, blood-contacting medical implants for over 25 years. Astute® is a Surface Active Therapeutic that combines an active component with additional passive components to mimic the natural endothelial layer. The active component gives the coating the ability to interrupt the blood cascade mechanism, preventing platelets from activating and hinders thrombus formation. The additional passive components prevent blood components from depositing on to the device surface. This multi-faceted approach provides superior hemocompatibility to the surface without any reduction in performance for the lifetime of the patient. Achieve Seamless Beauty in Your Medical Device 🏥 ✨ One often overlooked advantage of dip molding? No parting lines! This results in a smooth, seamless finish that can be crucial for certain applications. (And crucial for impressing stakeholders, too!) Just remember that your mandrel design is critical for success. Ensure large radii to better facilitate de-molding, and leave extra space at the top to secure it during dipping. We designed this mandrel for an all-in-one, seamless, neonatal CPAP cannula. Dip molding was the perfect simple solution for this complex medical device. Curious about how dip molding could elevate your next project? Let's discuss! #MedTech #DesignForManufacturing #DFM #MedicalDevice

Whatzit App: Spine Revision Intelligence is a Godsend for spinal revisions. It’s a nerve-racking experience as a rep to not be 100% confident that you have the right instrumentation for your surgeon and his/her patient. If you’re a spine rep, mid level provider, or surgeon, I highly recommend adding the #whatzit app in your armamentarium. Contigo Surgical Solutions Whatzit App: Spine Revision Intelligence
People have been asking, and the Whatzit app—the leading spine implant ID platform—delivers. Our humble opinion: the implants in Luigi Mangione's X banner appear to be from Globus Medical's CREO 5.5 (Non-Threaded) pedicle screw system. It should be stated that Globus Medical is a world class medical device manufacturer with a reputation for quality and innovation.

Hot Isostatic Pressing for a better life! We at OWL are your trusted partner for state-of-the-art HOT ISOSTATIC PRESSING of medical implants. By using Hot Isostatic Pressing we improve the quality of life of medical implants. We utilise state-of-the-art technologies and work closely with our valuable customers to ensure that each implant meets the highest quality and safety standards. Tight tolerances are often requested when processing a medical implant since they are very desirable for quality control, considering mechanical and dimensional tolerances, as well as time or resource savings. However, before defining the desired tolerances or ranges within which the equipment should work, it is important to understand what are the limitations of it and which physical mechanisms will happen during the process that cannot be controlled. The main process parameters of hot isostatic pressing are the temperature, pressure and the dwell time. Besides that, heating and cooling rates can play an important role in the material or part properties, depending on the rates’ order of magnitude. Our goal is to deliver on time quality as a service provider for Hot Isostatic Pressing to our valuable customers within the medical implant industry. In case you want to know more, just get in touch with us and contact Daniel Guizard (dgu@owl-am.com) #medicalimplants #hip #hotisostaticpressing
