When you hear the word “hospice”, what do you think of? Serious question here, comment with your answer. I can think of so many positive words, but I still hear people associate negative words when discussing hospice care. This causes a delay in end of life planning and care. How do we “flip the script” and the mindset surrounding the word “hospice”? My wish this holiday season is that we start discussing quality of care with our families and patients. This conversation would include conversations about advanced care planning and end of life wishes. #hospice #endoflifecare #quality

The Medicare hospice benefit is rich with resources, both for patients and their family or caregivers- According to the National Institute of Aging and Health: “Studies have shown that when a person enrolls in hospice care they are more likely to have increased family satisfaction and better symptom and pain management. They are also less likely to undergo tests or be given medication they don’t need or want.” While we don’t want to think of death as part of living, dying well is just as important as living well. Awareness and true understanding of the depth of the hospice benefit is something everyone deserves.

Life is a beautiful journey, filled with highs and lows. Here are a few benefits of calling hospice early when facing a serious illness: 1️⃣ Enhanced Comfort: Hospice focuses on pain and symptom management, ensuring patients are as comfortable as possible. 2️⃣ Emotional Support: It provides vital emotional and spiritual guidance to patients and their families, easing the burden of fear and uncertainty. 3️⃣ Improved Communication: Early hospice fosters open discussions about preferences, wishes, and end-of-life goals. 4️⃣ More Time Together: It allows more time for meaningful connections and saying those important goodbyes. 🕊️ Let's remember that hospice isn't just for the final days; it's about making every moment count. 💖 #HospiceCareMatters #CompassionateChoices #QualityOfLife #homehealth #homehealthagency #hospice #hospicecare #inhomecare #eldercare #hospicenurse #endoflife #healthcare #endoflifecare #grief #homecare #seniorcare #seniors #homecareagency #homehealthcare #compassion #caregivers #elderly #aging #healthcareathome #yourhealthmatters #healthyliving #compassionatecare

Did you know there are millions of people living with serious illness that impacts the quality of life for the patients, their families, and caregivers? Hospice is a specialized medical care delivered by a team of professionals and often volunteers in various settings such as in the home, hospital, or other care facilities. The term hospice is frequently misunderstood and is equated in many persons minds with imminent death. On the contrary, hospice care focuses on quality of life, on the wishes of the patient and family, and on easing distress at the end of life and the months preceding death. Resources like https://lnkd.in/g2GAc9N provide detailed information that answer questions to help you through the journey you are on and understand the choices you have. #hospice #hospicecare
