#do you check the mobility of the tympanic membrane when not certain of middle ear purulence or fluid? According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics, you should. With an increasing concern about antibiotic misuse and bacteria resistance, its time to start following the guidelines. There is a reason that ENTs use tympanometry daily in their practice... Ears are hard - and otoscopy alone will often dupe us into writing an unnecessary antibiotic. Jeff LaCour Compassio Medical Education #ear #urgentcare #emergencymedicine #pediatrics #familypractice

Breaking: Children who are hemorrhaging should also receive whole blood. 🩸 Recent research published in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery highlights a powerful statistic: for every 10% increase in the proportion of low titer group O whole blood (LTOWB) used in pediatric trauma resuscitation, there’s a 38% decrease in in-hospital mortality. It’s time to ensure that EMS protocols for whole blood programs include children. This lifesaving intervention can make a profound difference in outcomes for our youngest patients. Let’s work together to bring #WholeBlood to every patient in need—no matter their age. Reference: https://lnkd.in/efFTiYKC #EMS #Pediatrics #TraumaCare #SavingLives"
