Our latest research has found that a concerning proportion of Victorians have difficulty finding, understanding and navigating legal Information and services. As part of our Public Understanding of Law Survey (PULS), respondents were asked six questions in relation to the ability to obtain, understand and navigate information and services. We found that while people have a reasonable ability to engage and interact with relevant legal organisations, a significant group have inadequate or low ‘practical legal literacy’. This included 58.7% of people who reported sometimes, often or always having trouble finding the right person to speak to in organisations. We also found a correlation between education and practical legal literacy. Problems with legal literacy decrease as educational qualifications increase. We proudly reflect on the launch event of the Antwerp Law Review, a brand-new academic legal journal entirely run by students, for students. The journal was created to give a voice to emerging legal talent, offering them the opportunity to share their innovative research with both the academic world and the legal practice. As a bilingual review, we are proud to publish articles in both English and Dutch. The mission of ALR is clear: we aim to provide a platform where young legal minds contribute to today’s legal discussions. The law is ever-changing, with new insights and concepts emerging daily that shape the legal landscape. ALR is here to amplify these new voices and give them a stage. Our goal is to become the go-to platform where innovative legal work from students comes together. What makes ALR unique is our cross-university approach. By collaborating with students from various universities, we aim to showcase the breadth and depth of legal talent. This initiative transcends institutional boundaries, offering a diverse range of perspectives. We are creating a platform where fresh, innovative ideas can evolve into meaningful contributions to the legal field. In our unique format, authors transform their theses and research papers into concise, accessible articles of around 2,000 words. These articles are published with open access on Stradalex, giving readers a clear overview of the research's key findings without sacrificing depth. For those wanting to dive deeper, the full original works are available —online and for free—through the ALR site (link in comments). This approach makes it easier for a wider audience to discover and engage with new legal insights. With ALR, we are building a tradition of excellence, innovation, and inspiration. By converting complex legal ideas into accessible formats, we bring groundbreaking research within reach of a broader audience, stimulating the dialogue for the future of law. Let’s continue to build a future where young talent fuels and strengthens the legal debate! #Antwerplawreview #LegalResearch #YoungTalent #StudentDriven #LegalInnovation

✒️ 𝕄𝕀ℕ𝕀ℕ𝔾 𝕃𝔸𝕎 𝕀ℕ 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔻ℝℂ : 𝔸𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕝𝕖 ! ✒️ 🎉 I’m thrilled and honored to announce the publication of my article, "𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘢𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘰 (𝘋𝘙𝘊): 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵", in the 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐩 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 (Vol.1) ! 🌍 This work is close to my heart, examining the urgent need for a sustainable transition in the DRC’s mining sector. The country is a crucial provider of natural resources for global technology, yet paradoxically remains among the world’s poorest. Drawing from the 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 movement and its philosophical foundations, this article explores how the mining industry could shift towards an alternative growth model. This research journey has only just begun, and I see in it a fascinating, essential field of study. A heartfelt thank you to my supervisor Professor Antoine Bailleux, who first introduced me to this legal philosophy during his thought-provoking Legal Clinic on Transition, and to François Ost, whose work continues to inspire me. I also extend my sincere gratitude to Giselle Bourgoing and Charlotte Constales and their fabulous team for their editorial guidance and support in bringing this piece to publication. Congratulations to the other authors, whose works are all more interesting than the others, and of outstanding quality Adeodata Kanyamihanda, Antoon Heeren, Eline Roels, Luna Fasoel, and Vincent Daens! As usual, you'll find a few poetic elements scattered here and there throughout my work ✒️ The article is now accessible on StradaLex (summary) and also available in full PDF format via this link : https://lnkd.in/eJ_Bt2ff Feel free to send feedback ! :) #AntwerpLawReview #MiningLaw #LegalResearch #DRC #SustainableDevelopment #LawInTransition
