The Heart of GAA ❤️ : Why AI Artwork Misses the Mark! 🤖 The GAA's decision to use AI for match programme artwork has sparked significant controversy and, let's be honest, resulted in a horrible end product! 🤦♂️ 📦 📦 📦 My attic is filled with boxes of cherished match programmes, mostly from Cork football games I've attended (and more often than not had my heart broken at 💔 ). The GAA's recent trend of using AI to create these programmes doesn't capture the true essence and passion of the occasions, and this needs to be reconsidered. AI brings efficiency but is deficient in human creativity and cultural understanding. As a GAA enthusiast and an educator advocating for responsible AI integration, I insist that - critical thinking, - domain expertise, - and just plain ole "cop on" are essential prerequisites for the effective use of this technology. Barry Masterson's insightful tweet highlights the depth of feeling around this issue, pointing out the importance of authenticity and connection in sports and the impact it will have on sports photographers and artists' livelihoods. https://lnkd.in/emYwF-Xe The GAA defended the use of AI art, with a spokesman stating: "We are constantly trialling new ideas for our match programme covers and this was a case of experiment from our publishing partners' graphic designers.
