German-based HOCHTIEF and Madrid-based Grupo ACS are merging their US operations, Flatiron and Dragados, to form what would be the second-largest domestic heavy contractor in the US, behind Kiewit. Peter Davoren, CEO of Turner Construction, will serve as chairman of the new firm, Flatiron Dragados, with Flatiron’s Javier Sevilla Roca as CEO. The move strengthens the link between European construction expertise and booming US infrastructure projects. ACS will hold 61.8% of the new company, with Hochtief controlling the remaining 38.2%. The combined entity will operate in twenty-four US states and eight Canadian provinces, with a backlog of $17.2 billion and 2023 revenue of $6.1 billion. This merger promises significant growth and innovation across North America's infrastructure landscape. Founded in 2015 by Jake Gaskell, JWG has grown significantly, providing services to support the safety and efficiency of railway infrastructure. The sale enables Jake to remain with the company as Managing Director – Rail Service Line.
