Today Slingshot Aerospace released its inaugural State of Satellite Deployments & Orbital Operations report (2023 summary) with analysis from our tenacious Seradata team and brilliant data scientists. It is chock full of interesting graphs and charts showing how space activities -- from launch, to on-orbit operations, through disposal -- have changed over time. There are any number of industry reports on the state of the satellite market and trends in launches and satellite deployments. Yes, our report contains these stats too -- but we also provide unique insights on how on-orbit operations are changing, such as average distances between satellites in GEO and number of defunct satellites in LEO by altitude band. It's Day 3 of #WorldSpaceWeek! 🚀 We are celebrating the transformative impact of space technology on our lives, emphasizing the proactive role Earth Observation plays in enhancing our understanding and management of Earth’s climate. The Teledyne Space Imaging team are working on a number of #space missions that are helping to monitor environmental shifts and formulating strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change. MethaneSAT is the only methane-detecting satellite that sees the whole picture. It measures pollution from millions of small sources around the world. Teledyne Space Imaging provided Sensors: GeoSnap-18 2K×2K infrared focal plane array on Spectrometer-1 and Spectrometer-2. Teledyne Space Imaging supplied two HgCdTe focal plane arrays (FPAs) to measure O2 in the 1.249-1.305 µm band and measure CH4 and O2 in the 1.598-1.683 µm band.
