Very very excited, both to be delivering this Webinar and for the launch of our Classroom Assessment course, both taking place in on the 19th August. Assessment is an essential part of learning, yet our initial reaction to it, and that of students, is often negative. Our immediate association is often that of high-stakes tests that we ourselves have experienced in the past, and the associated stress and anxiety - along with results that we may have felt didn't truly reflect our abilities as learners. But assessment also allows us to identify not only what we don't know, but also to identify what we have successfully learned, and celebrate that success. Moreover, recall practice (which is best done through low-stakes assessment) is key if we wish to successfully retain knowledge. By allowing teachers, and students, to understand and take ownership for their own assessment practices, we allow them to take ownership over their own learning, and move towards a more positive perception of what is a fundamental part of any education.
