Beyond Aero based in Toulouse, marks a historic milestone with the maiden flight of its hydrogen-electric aircraft in early 2024, a first in France! 🇫🇷 The inaugural flight, piloted on a ULM, propels Beyond Aero into the elite league of global aerospace pioneers achieving manned electric flight. The campaign includes 10 test flights, affirming the feasibility of entirely hydrogen-electric propulsion, reaching altitudes of 2,300 feet and climb speeds of 110 meters. Named after French aviator Louis Blériot, the prototype Blériot embodies innovation, powered by 1.2 kg of hydrogen gas stored in three 340-bar reservoirs, generating a max electrical power of 85 kW. Notably, Beyond Aero's aircraft isn't solely hydrogen-powered; it boasts a hydrogen-electric propulsion system driving a single propeller, with two-thirds of its power sourced from a hydrogen fuel cell and the remainder from batteries. This successful test flight campaign underscores Beyond Aero's commitment to developing the first commercially viable hydrogen-electric business aircraft, shaping the future of sustainable aviation in the coming decade. Heart Aerospace has revealed its first full-scale demonstrator prototype, the ES30 hybrid-electric aircraft, named Heart X1. Built in-house at Heart's Gothenburg facilities, this 30-seat aircraft marks a major milestone in decarbonizing aviation. CEO Anders Forslund emphasized the urgency to fast-track net-zero technologies, with plans for the fully electric first flight by 2025. The company also introduced a new nacelle integration design to enhance lift and enable shorter runway operations. Taking off from Gap-Tallard, France, test pilot Paul Prudent piloted the innovative aircraft, powered by a hydrogen-electric propulsion system developed by Beyond Aero. The successful flight test program, including 10 takeoffs and landings, along with two longer flights, validated the impressive 85-kW propulsion system.
