WTH! No one told me that!? Career Guidance for Emerging Professionals. Tip #13 The Only Way Out is Through! I just watched a great documentary about mountain climbing/adventure called "180 Degrees South" and it indirectly starred Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard. What a man. He recently transferred his billion dollar company to a trust for the benefit of the environment. In the documentary, at 70 years old, he voluntarily goes with a group to climb an icy peak that has never been ascended. As the group laboriously hacks through several miles of dense forest (it took days), there is talk of turning back. Yvon dryly quips, "I guess we could have taken a helicopter to the base, but that's cheating." He went on to say, "How you climb a mountain is more important than reaching the top." Yvon believes the focus for any journey should be on the process not the result as the process is the real experience. Likewise, in your work life, you need to commit to the hard thing. You should choose to hack your way through dense forests; NOT merely skip over them opting for a helicopter ride. Your quest should be to find experiences which will lead to more growth? Choose experiences, opportunities, assignments that force you to get scratched, bruised and scarred as well as challenged, uncomfortable, insecure and scared. They will make you grow and arm/equip you for the next level in your journey as you seek to ascend even higher peaks. Love to hear from anyone who has endured such an experience or two! #professionaldevelopment #youngprofessionals

"From impossible to I'm possible" is a powerful shift in perspective, turning a word associated with defeat into one of empowerment and possibility. It emphasizes that with determination, creativity, and the right mindset, what seems unattainable can be achieved. It's a reminder that challenges are opportunities in disguise, and by believing in ourselves, we can transform the impossible into reality. As Australia moves towards a greener and more sustainable future, transportation and mobility are becoming an increasingly important part of the conversation. Questions around the challenges of climate change, resource depletion and limited flexibility are coming to the forefront of traditional ownership models, particularly where cars are concerned. This makes way for innovative solutions such as car subscriptions, which can offer a flexible and sustainable alternative to traditional car ownership - and can be a great way to incorporate sustainability into your employee mobility programs. This week marks a year since I launched Final Third… and what a year it’s been! With a mortgage and two kids, some people fairly questioned my decision to dive headfirst into a new business venture full-time. But I believed the sports industry needed more support to progress on sustainability, a vital topic that we all need to focus more on, and I’m delighted I took that decision to launch Final Third. A huge thank you to every single person I’ve worked with over this last 12 months, and everyone who has supported our work in any way. Reflecting on 12 months of work has been inspiring, and I’ve no idea how I’ve managed to fit it all in… In year one, we’ve: - Delivered staff education workshops for EFL (English Football League), Arsenal F.C, West Bromwich Albion Football Club, Wolves Foundation, Watford FC's Community Sports & Education Trust, Birmingham City FC Community Trust, Northampton Town FC Community Trust, Sporting Group International, Sporting Jobs, Rapid Charge, SGI Sports Management - Delivered The Carbon Literacy Project training to learners from 4 different countries - Led the club and CCO outreach for Green Football Weekend engaging over 100 football clubs, and designed the schools toolkit for the campaign’s education outreach - Delivered on the brilliant 'Cobblers Tackle Food Waste' initiative with Northampton Town FC Community Trust, funded by Eat It Up from Hubbub with support from the Starbucks 5p cup charge - Helped Manchester United Foundation with the launch of their Eco Reds initiative, with more support to follow soon - Partnered with Sporting Group International to help drive their sustainability credentials forward internally and externally whilst educating their global team, aiming to become the leading sports sponsorship agency globally in the sustainability space - Worked with Football for Forests on their launch in the UK - Supported Planet League on their brilliant Arsenal F.C x Ball Corporation activation through staff education - Spoke at events for Novo-K Procurement Solutions at Stamford Bridge and the Emirates and for Living Sport to a group of international sports management students visiting the UK from the US - Worked with Dan Freedman to launch a Key Stage 2 schools intervention bringing the Carnegie Medal nominated novel, ‘I Am Lenny Brown’ to life, soon to be delivered across schools all over the country by more than 6 CCOs ...And not to mention completing my MBA studies on the side! We’ve got some exciting projects already lined up for year 2, and I can’t wait to continue to make an impact with some fantastic people and organisations across the sports sector. Want to know what support we can bring to your sports club, organisation or charity? Reach out today at rich@finalthirdsport.co.uk - I'm always keen to chat!
🎉 This week, we're celebrating a whole year of Final Third. 🤝 A huge thank you to all our partners, colleagues and friends across the sports and sustainability sector. Onwards to another year of driving sustainability forwards in the sport industry together.

🥳 20 Years with the Same Company - A Wise Choice or a Mistake? This month marks my 20th anniversary at Ramboll, and I have no regrets. One of my earliest and most memorable meetings was a one-on-one with Børge Rambøll, one of the company’s founders. He emphasized that as communication and marketing professionals, we have a unique responsibility to enhance collaboration across the company, leveraging our collective strength in the eyes of clients and stakeholders. His words have guided me throughout my career at Ramboll. Here’s why I’ve stayed at Rambøll for two decades: 🔵 Embracing Company Culture and People: I value our culture that appreciates precision, expertise, teamwork, and friendliness. 🔵 Leadership Integrity: My immediate leader – and the leaders I work with – exemplifies integrity, ambition, and clarity. 🔵 Shaping the Company: Together with fellow leaders and colleagues I can play my part contributing to the strategic direction of the company. 🔵 Building a Strong Brand: It's a marathon, not a sprint, in developing and nurturing an authentic brand that stands out and stands the test of time. 🔵 Raising the Bar Together: Most importantly, I get to play a role in developing talented colleagues and teams, ensuring they reach new heights individually - and not least – collectively. What keeps you at a workplace for the long haul? #whyIworkatramboll 🌟

🚀 Celebrating Year 1: What a Ride! 🚀 What a year it's been! From mobility, pharma (skin care), and engineering to art, we've had the pleasure of working with incredible clients – and to make it all happen, we’ve traveled across Belgium (from Braine-l'Alleud to Oostkamp) and internationally to Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, and the US. Not for vacation (sadly!), but to deliver impactful projects. 🌍✨ Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of working with amazing partners who made the journey even more rewarding. We couldn't have done it without them (and their coffee). ☕💡 Whether it was digital transformation in finance, audit, sustainability or launch strategies, we’ve been busy and, yes, sometimes a little overwhelmed. Challenges? You bet. But we had fun, learned a lot, and definitely laughed more than we should have (mostly at ourselves). 😅 Here’s to an even bigger Year 2 – with more projects, more laughs, and hopefully a bit more sleep! 😜 #YearInReview #DigitalTransformation #Sustainability #ClientSuccess #Innovation #FirstYearFun #GlobalImpact #ExcitedForTheFuture #Partners #Grateful #LessCoffeeMoreSleep

“Think Ahead” Today, we looked ahead with the international team of Natura Bissé gathering minds from the United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Turkey, Croatia, India, China, Spain, and Ukraine. Together, we explored the importance of forward-thinking, positioning ourselves beyond the present to proactively shape the future. We examined emerging trends in social behaviors, technology, channels, and more, striving to anticipate shifts that will empower our organization to succeed in the years to come. Three key takeaways: 1. Grow your business and people. To foster growth, delegate; in doubt, it’s better to over-delegate than under-delegate. 2. Build your future from the perspective of your aspirations. Planning from the present often brings more limitations than opportunities. 3. Dedicate time in your calendar to think ahead. Without it, day-to-day business will consume your time, leaving little room to envision and create an inspiring future for your team.” Thanks Sali Flores and Beatriz Riera Jover for inviting me. A pleasure to reconnect with Juan Albanell whom I had the opportunity to work with at PepsiCo. Wonderful memories. The future looks very promising for Natura Bissé with the winning mindset I’ve seen in their team. Playing global with Natura Bissé! 🌎😃
