Preference process You’ll have the chance to rank your preferred cities, however, airlines usually allocate bases based on seniority. More experienced team members are more likely to secure their top choices. 3. Living in your base city While it's encouraged for new flight attendants to reside in their assigned base city, few airlines require this. Commuting is a viable option, allowing flight attendants to live elsewhere and travel to their base when needed. 🌐 4. Commuting & flexibility When commuting, you can choose to spend your working nights in hotels or temporary apartments, providing a balance between work and personal life. 5. Home-based opportunities Today, some airlines offer the option of a home base. What’s wrong with ME?" 😥 Don’t despair. I’ve been where you are and wondered the same. Getting no response doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. Before jumping to conclusions, read the job advert again, carefully. 👀 🤔 Ask yourself: 👉 Did I meet the minimum height requirement? Whether we like it or not, this is an essential prerequisite. 👉 Did I send the application before the deadline? Verify the advert on the airline’s website or their social channels. Do not trust third-party websites. 👉 Did I have the right to work in the base country? Check visa requirements. 👉 Did I have all the qualifications required? Cabin Crew attestation, High School Diploma, or University Diploma. 👉 Did my profile photo meet the standards and look professional? A lot of airlines have strict photo guidelines. Read them and follow them to the letter. 👉 Did I have all the skills required? However, much like a beautiful car, what truly makes a difference is what's under the hood—whether it be the engine, the spare parts, or all the little nuts and bolts. This is exactly what many people fail to research when they apply for a cabin crew position. It's statistically proven that the success rate for securing a cabin crew job is just 3% during the application and interview process within the aviation industry. Every day, I see many candidates scouring the internet for interview questions and trying to memorize the answers, missing the main point: it's not about the answer as much as how it’s delivered. Airlines, especially those in the GCC region, hire you for who you are and your character, not just for what you know. Once you join an airline, you will be trained or retrained if you were an ex-cabin crew member. The most important foundation is the human being reflected in their outlook and behavior, which is why only 3% make the cut. The dilemma of the day: which is better, working on commercial or private jets as cabin crew? 🤔 Here are 5 main differences between the two to help make up your mind! 1. Schedules. Unlike commercial aircraft crews, private ones have no schedule or roster, and the work is very much on demand. This means that you have to be way more flexible. 2. Salary. Due to extra responsibilities, private jet flight attendants’ salaries tend to be higher than average compared to commercial crew. However, it depends on the operator and other factors, such as rotation or how often you fly. 🛫 3. Duties. Private jet cabin crews have a lot more work to do outside the actual flights. It might include ordering the catering, restocking supplies, cleaning the aircraft after each flight, and more. 4. Teams. If you decide to fly commercially, you’ll always have a team of cabin crew to support you if needed. In the case of private jets, the size of the team depends on the aircraft, duration of flight, and the number of passengers on board. However, many private flights only require one flight attendant, which means you’ll often work by yourself. 5. Aircraft. Flight attendants on private jets usually work on just one or two planes, so they get to know them really well, whereas airline cabin crew might only fly on the same plane a few times in their entire career. “𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚, 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚!” ( Z.Ziglar) Two things (in my opinion) make for a successful Corporate Flight Attendant: 1) 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚 and 2) 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨. You might ask “𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩? 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙?”. Skills are, indeed, essential in our industry. Safety, security and medical knowledge, menu planning, sourcing catering, food handling, culinary arts, time management, preparation, organisation, multitasking… all these play a crucial role in our job. 𝘽𝙐𝙏, here’s the thing, 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩! Skills only take you halfway. (I will say this again: This is just a personal opinion and anyone is free to disagree ☺️). There is an abundance of truly amazing training providers who, through their rich experience and deep knowledge, can help you acquire, develop and improve these skills. 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩,𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 is what will take you the rest of the way and is not something you can learn. Your attitude is what separates you from others and makes you unique. Remember, in corporate aviation, we not only provide service, we create a whole 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 for our clients!
