When there is a fire, the electricity frequently goes out, leaving the building in complete darkness. The risk of harm increases when the lights go out, therefore this is a major safety worry for the authorities. Because of this, emergency lighting is a necessity rather than just a "nice to have." AS 2293.1 allows for an internally illuminated exit sign to perform roles of illuminated emergency exit signage and emergency escape luminaire provided that it meets the requirements of both purposes as set out in the standard. For emergency lighting installation, testing, and maintenance, contact SAFE.

The Importance of Emergency Lighting Emergency lights are designed to automatically activate in the absence of the main power supply, providing illumination in critical areas such as exits, corridors, and stairwells. Their importance cannot be overstated: - **Safety and Compliance**: They are a legal requirement in many countries, ensuring that buildings meet safety standards and are equipped to handle emergency situations. - **Visibility and Guidance**: They guide occupants towards the nearest safe exits, minimizing the risk of injury or loss of life. - **Confidence and Reassurance**: The presence of emergency lights instills a sense of security, knowing that there is a backup plan for lighting in case of emergencies. The universal use of emergency lights is a testament to the global commitment to safety. As we continue to innovate and improve upon these life-saving devices, one thing remains certain: in times of darkness and danger, emergency lights will be there to light the way to safety. Whether it's a small business or a large corporation, the inclusion of emergency lighting in building design and operation plans is a reflection of our collective responsibility to protect lives. It's a small but significant step towards a safer world for all.
