Most of the time, I am horribly worried about all the millions of things I want to – and should be, perhaps need to – be doing for my startup venture Toneoptic.
Many think entrepreneurship is about taking ($s), when in reality entrepreneurship is a journey of unwavering giving.
And that giving is never enough (unless you reach a certain size with crazy good management in place, or you sell the company).
But every now and then, there are moments where I just stop and remind myself of the limitations of being a bootstrapped solopreneur (with a heck of a career outside this crazy startup business), and I look at what I've accomplished. Feel some pride. Pat myself on the back, even if just for a minute.
Like on this Sunday evening, when I realized that as of last week, over 300 people from Mexico City to Florence, from Australia to Qatar, are selecting their records using the ($325-$375-priced) product I sketched on a napkin and was crazy enough to travel the world to make into a reality – simply because that innovation solved a problem I personally experienced.
So to my fellow founders: Taking a minute every now and then to sit back and think about how far you've come is incredibly important to your mental state – and to the continuous growth of your startup. And if you have to block out 15 minutes on a Sunday EOD to pat yourself on the back before diving head-first into a busy week, do it. It will be time well spent 👏
