Collaboration and education around cybersecurity have never been more critical, especially as data breaches continue to occur frequently across various industries. In Singapore, such incidents have quadrupled in the past two years, according to figures from a recent Surfshark report, with around 722,770 accounts being breached in the first quarter of 2024 alone. October was Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a timely reminder of the crucial need to stay secure in our digital world, especially in the face of increased cyber risks (no thanks to the rise of AI!) and a rapidly evolving global regulatory landscape. It was also a reminder that more needs to be done to complement existing cybersecurity guardrails and that a new approach to managing our sensitive and private data must be considered.
