🌍 Nano-grid, mini-grid or state-grid: What is the future of energy supply? ⚡ In numerous regions worldwide, particularly in Africa, dependable power grids are not guaranteed. However, what type of grid is most appropriate for addressing local challenges? Our CEO, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rams participated virtually in the New Energy World 2024 forum, discussing how innovative solutions like nano-grids (mesh-grids) and mini-grids can serve as viable alternatives or even supplements to national power grids. 👉 Watch the full event, featuring Wolfgang on the panel: https://lnkd.in/e2G6iMFj (Wolfgang from minute 40 on) The participants had many interesting discussions 💬, which showed us that there are still many unanswered questions about the different types of grids, how they work and their respective advantages. In the next few posts, we will inform you in detail about the individual grid types and highlight their advantages ⚡. We will give you insights into how they can be used in sub-Saharan Africa to give more people access to reliable electricity. We look forward to your comments and questions under each of the posts, as well as your feedback on what you think of this type of knowledge series. 📝 #AfricaGreenTec #Minigrid #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #FutureOfEnergy #empower

At the ReBuild Ukraine 2024, GE Vernova, Ternopiloblenergo, and the Ternopil city council officially unveiled the Ternopil Energy Island (Microgrid) project for the first time. This ambitious initiative aims to establish a sustainable and resilient energy system for Ternopil, leveraging the city's existing and future generating capacities. These capacities are being developed with the support of utilities, donors, and private investors. The phased implementation of the project aims to enable the city of Ternopil to function independently in the event of a blackout. Recovery and Reform Support Team at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine team is pleased to observe the ongoing implementation of the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and GE Vernova. This collaboration continues to advance through the active participation of energy companies, with the vital support of local municipalities and, importantly, under the guidance and oversight of the Ministry of Energy. This progress underscores a shared commitment to achieving the memorandum's objectives and fostering sustainable energy development. Moderator: Artem Pasko. Supported by EBRD Ukraine MDA.
