Growth can have its own pace.....
Clinical psychologist | Clinical Supervisor | Ex - NIMHANS | 14 + years of experience in mental health
When I took admission in NIMHANS in year 2014, I have imagined myself doing a top class research in the field of psychology with the dream of publishing in some High impact journal. As I moved forward in my journey as a trainee, my dream faded as there was no time at all. I was engrossed completely in OPD, rounds, ward patients and other clinical duties. as they say, it never rains but it pours, I had a major accident during my second year and was on bed for two months. with the injury, I was struggling with clinical work and the expectations of a high quality research got dimmer. The more I was trying to reach everywhere, more disappointment I was getting. But then I thought, why do I have to accomplish everything now? What will happen if the research I am doing is mediocre? Will I be a lessor qualified clinician? Not really. I thought. All of you who are currently pursuing masters or MPhil, you will get plenty of time to accomplish better. Don't let it get on you. You are doing just fine. you will get time to do things on your own pace. sit tight.

As I approach graduation with my Master’s in Public Health, I find myself reflecting on the challenges of transitioning into the next phase of my career in clinical research. The excitement of reaching this milestone is bittersweet, as the journey has not been without its hurdles. Navigating this competitive field and facing the reality of limited job opportunities in research has been tough. It can feel like a constant uphill battle, but I remain hopeful that the skills I’ve gained and the experiences I’ve had will open doors eventually. For anyone else in this position, I see you. The journey may be uncertain, but we’re all working towards something greater. Stay persistent, keep pushing forward, and remember that every step brings us closer to our goals. #PublicHealth #ClinicalResearch #GraduateLife #TransitionChallenges #KeepPushing

Which Type of Research is Best for Old YOGs? 🤔 For old graduates, research can bridge gaps and strengthen your residency application. Here are the most impactful types of research to consider: 🔹 US-Based Research: Participating in US-based research shows familiarity with the US healthcare system and helps build connections with mentors and program directors. 🔹 Clinical Research: Engage in studies involving patient data or treatment outcomes, such as retrospective or prospective studies. Clinical trials are a bonus! 🔹 Case Reports & Case Series: Highlight unique clinical scenarios you’ve encountered during observerships or hands-on experience. These are easier and quicker to complete. 🔹 Review Articles: If patient data isn’t accessible, writing review articles or meta-analyses allows you to showcase your knowledge and research skills. 🔹 Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs): Focus on improving hospital processes or patient safety. These projects align well with ACGME core competencies and are highly valued by programs. 💡 Want to know which type of research suits your profile best? 📞 Book a FREE Session with our experts today! 👉 Click here to book your free session- https://lnkd.in/gK9qYx7n 📩 Have Questions?
