China-Kuwait Collaboration: Advancing Solar Energy Station Project Talks In a two-week visit, a Chinese delegation engaged in discussions with Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Salem Falah Al-Hajraf, and the Minister of State for Housing Affairs. The focus of the talks was centered on the establishment of a solar energy station project featuring an independent supplier system. Taking place during the event week from November 4-8, the award ceremony recognizes the companies who are spearheading the development, innovation and growth of Africa’s energy industry. #Africa is expected to more than double its share in the global natural gas market by 2050 while increasing its renewable energy capacity four-fold by 2030. Concurrently, the continent’s greenfield spending will boom in the coming decade, reaching $37 billion by 2025 and $50 billion by 2030. The potential of renewable electricity in Africa is undoubtedly vast and the total installed capacity is forecast to more than double between 2023- 2028. Renewable energy already accounts for 40.5% of the region’s electricity generation- higher than the global average of 34.1%. Some African countries are even leading the way globally in these figures. On 27 March 2024, the Presidency released a detailed update on the implementation of the Energy Action Plan (EAP). The report outlines the significant progress achieved over the last 6 months in implementing the government’s plan to end load shedding. ⚡️🔌💡 The EAP aims to reduce the severity and frequency of load shedding in the short term and achieve energy security in the long term through five key interventions: 1. Fix Eskom and improve the availability of existing supply 2. Enable and accelerate private investment in generation capacity 3. Fast-track the procurement of new generation capacity from renewables, gas and battery storage 4. Unleash businesses and households to invest in rooftop solar 5.
