The Human Trafficking Act of Ghana, which came into effect on December 5, 2005, serves as a vital tool in the fight against human trafficking within, to, from, and through Ghana. Subsequently, on July 20, 2009, an important amendment was enacted to redefine human trafficking and address related issues, thus strengthening the country's anti-trafficking efforts. On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let us unite and raise the clarion call against the scourge of human trafficking. Together, let's work towards a world free from this heinous crime against humanity. #acepa #worlddayagainsttrafficking #ghana

⚠The Dark Reality of Organ Trafficking in Myanmar Organ trafficking is a grim and deeply disturbing issue that continues to plague Myanmar. Vulnerable populations, especially those impacted by conflict, poverty, and displacement, are increasingly at risk of exploitation in this illegal trade. The lack of adequate healthcare infrastructure, economic desperation, and weak enforcement of laws have created a breeding ground for this heinous crime. Many victims are lured with false promises, only to have their organs harvested and sold in underground markets, leaving them with lifelong trauma. It's crucial that we raise awareness about this ongoing crisis and advocate for stronger protections for vulnerable communities. Governments, NGOs, and the international community must work together to combat this illicit trade, enforce stricter regulations, and support victims. The fight against organ trafficking isn't just about addressing the symptoms; it's about tackling the root causes—poverty, corruption, and systemic inequality. Let's bring this issue to the forefront and push for change. Together, we can make a difference. #HumanRights #EndOrganTrafficking #MyanmarCrisis #SocialJustice

When #reintegration programs empower survivors of human trafficking to lead and plan their own futures, offering flexibility and support when needed, powerful stories like *Jenny's emerge. IOM Nigeria supports survivors through the Enhanced Reintegration Support for Victims of Trafficking (ERS) Program, providing business grants, facilitating skills training, and connecting survivors with mentors who help them build sustainable businesses to support their families. #EndHumanTrafficking #Nigeria *Name has been changed to protect identity. https://lnkd.in/epnnh246

🔎 Insights into our latest publication 🔎 #Kazakhstan’s 🇰🇿 adoption of the new Law on Action Against #HumanTrafficking in early July marks a significant milestone in the country’s anti-trafficking efforts. Over recent years, Kazakhstan has ratified several key international agreements, including the Palermo Protocol, and has collaborated with other nations to strengthen its approach to preventing and addressing trafficking in persons. In her article, Lova Jansson examines gaps in Kazakhstan’s efforts to combat trafficking. She notes that the relatively low number of trafficking convictions indicates ongoing shortcomings in the counter-trafficking system. Lova’s analyses reveal that, while the government has partnered with NGOs involved in victim protection, funding for these organisations is frequently inadequate. Civil society groups also report that limited access to data and information hampers effective advocacy and service provision. Moreover, issues such as poverty and inequality continued to fuel the vulnerability of the trafficking victims. Lova stresses the importance of increasing funding and collaboration with NGOs that support trafficking victims, enhancing monitoring systems, and ensuring #accountability across sectors, and recommends a comprehensive approach to address human trafficking more effectively. This includes promoting the detection of child trafficking by the new Mobile Teams by involving children-related authorities and by targeting places where child trafficking is likely to manifest. 📌 Issue 9️⃣ of #CentralAsia Programmeʼs #PeaceandSecurityMonitor is available for download here: https://lnkd.in/enHHhZjs 📌 Visit the website of our Central Asia Programme at: https://lnkd.in/dJBSRvYA

⚖️Regional and sub-regional courts are important mechanisms of ensuring the protection and promotion of human rights, through facilitating access to justice. In Africa, these courts include the African Court on Human and People’s rights (in Arusha, Tanzania), the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice (in Abuja, Nigeria) and the East African Court of Justice (in Arusha, Tanzania). Dr. Musa Kika, the Executive Director of the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa, an organisation that litigates human rights before African human rights mechanisms, shares some perspectives on the challenges of using these mechanisms in the fight for justice. #HumanRights #JusticeForAll #Africa #RegionalCourts #AccessToJustice

𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚. It seems there is such a 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 journey to achieve true interdependence in Kenya. Allowing undiscussed Rage to build up and the LOUD silence of perceived affluence from government appointments and the Ruthless Oppression of young Kenyan children by ILLEGAL DETENTION and murder is not a solution to ANYTHING. May our priests and leaders address these 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐈𝐍 directly and stop dancing around 𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍, 𝐓𝐘𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐘 and 𝐓𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐌 with social niceties and falsities.

We are one of 28 signatories of a joint open letter to the Prime Minister expressing our deep sadness and concern as the Safety of Rwanda Bill becomes law. The signatories include survivors of modern slavery and NGOs working to end human trafficking. This law does not only disregard expert advice, but it will make people more vulnerable to trafficking, exploitation and dangerous transit routes. We refuse to stand for it. We urge the UK Government to reverse the Act, for the sake of modern slavery survivors. Struggles and Resilience: GBV in Sudan. Sudan's political turmoil has exacerbated GBV, leaving countless women and girls at risk of violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and forced displacement. Recent upheavals have disrupted access to essential services for survivors, increasing their vulnerability. But women-led movements in Sudan continue to demand change, justice, and protection for victims. Let’s stand with these courageous advocates, promoting policies that prioritize survivor-centered care and legal reforms. Together, we can break the cycle of violence. #EndGBV #Sudan #JusticeForAll #SupportSurvivors
