There is no sense in arguing if any one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are more important to address than another. There are times, however, when one is exposed to an issue where the urgency to address a particular goal becomes extremely acute. Sustainable Development Goal 6 seeks to ensure access to water and sanitation for all. Safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene is fundamental for health and wellbeing including (but not limited to) improving health, enabling gender quality and increasing access to education. Water is essential and cannot be taken for granted. At the African Potential Group we fully support water.org and its efforts to unlock more funding to solve our planet’s water crisis.

🌍💧 The Essential Need for Clean Water 💧🌍 Access to clean water is not just a necessity, it's a fundamental human right. Today, over 2 billion people worldwide still lack safe drinking water, highlighting a critical global issue that impacts health, education, and economic stability. Clean water is vital for life. It supports communities by preventing disease, enabling education (especially for young girls), and fostering economic growth. When we invest in clean water infrastructure, we invest in the future of humanity. Yet, the struggle for clean water continues. Climate change, pollution, and inadequate infrastructure exacerbate this crisis. It's up to all of us – governments, businesses, and individuals – to take action. Sustainable solutions and collaborative efforts can make clean water accessible to everyone. Let's champion clean water initiatives and support organizations dedicated to this cause. Together, we can turn the tide and ensure that every person has access to this basic human need. 💙🌊 #CleanWater #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalHealth #WaterForAll https://lnkd.in/dvfYErBp

🌊 Join the Movement for World Water Day! 🌍 If you haven't already heard, today is World Water Day. This day aims to raise awareness of the importance of water and the need to conserve it. Every drop saved today will benefit future generations and provide clean drinking water for those who currently lack access to it. Here are five key insights: 1️⃣ Estimated 780 million people lack clean water. Nearly a billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. It's time to address this fundamental injustice. 2️⃣ Infrastructure in crisis: ageing water systems demand immediate attention. From pipes to dams, we must invest in modernisation to secure our water future. 3️⃣ Rising global demand: Population growth and changing lifestyles are driving water demand to unprecedented levels. Sustainable solutions are imperative. 4️⃣ Projected shortages by 2050: Without intervention, a quarter of the world could face water scarcity by 2050. We must act now to avert this crisis. 5️⃣ Human toll: Tragically, every minute, a newborn succumbs to water-related infections. This is a preventable and just disheartening situation to hear. Amidst these challenges, one organisation is helping to solve them and I also believe in there cause – Planet Water Foundation shines as a beacon of hope. They've impacted millions by providing clean water across 28 countries. 🤝 How can you also help? Today is World Water Day 💧 Did you know that 703 million people (almost one in ten) don’t have clean water close to home? At Nviro, we’re proud to have donated 433,620 litres of water to developing countries while reducing our water consumption by 529,980 litres in 2023 by using i-mops across our service and working with i-team Global and Made Blue Foundation. Compared to a traditional mop and bucket, which uses 40 litres a day, an i-mop uses just 18 litres. For every litre of water we use, the same is donated which helps support the construction of new water wells. This means we can lower our water footprint and contribute to the availability of water in the countries that need it. Find out more about Nviro’s environmental initiatives and how we make a difference to our clients and their communities 👇 https://ow.ly/UMU250QWHwS #WorldWaterDay #savewater #i-mops #makingadifference #ESG #environmental #greenerfuture #greeninitiative #sustainabilecleaning #cleaningservices #facilitiesmanagement #nviro

🌵 Cacto is passionate about reducing water deprivation. We are proud to support the inspiring work of Water.org 🚰 that help families around the world get access to safe water and sanitation. Prickly pears have evolved in arid climates consuming small amounts of rainwater. Approximately 42% of the world’s land area is classified as semi-arid or arid land. In fact, research, which took place in Logandale, Nevada, ‘Showed that Opuntia Ficus-indica (Prickly Pear) had high fruit production while using up to 80% less water than some traditional crops. Additionally, the plant works as a land-based carbon sink, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to store it in a sustainable way.’ (Nevada Today, 2021). Inspired by our core ingredient and the heart of our business, we will donate 5% of our Net Profits to Water.org. to provide safe water and sanitation to families around the world. 🌍 Discover more about how we can help: https://lnkd.in/dZpJcgX

Worldwide, Nature For Justice (N4J) leverages nature-based solutions (NbS) to help frontline communities impacted by the climate crisis. As a social justice non-profit, we create #NaturebasedSolutions projects that put communities first. In the US, we work with BIPOC farmers on #regenerativeagriculture, as part of our Farmer Inclusion Program and across Africa, we partner to help smallholder farmers and local landowners engage equitably in global carbon / NbS markets through regenerative agriculture projects. Throughout, we mobilize blended finance for community-determined NbS projects. By unlocking new avenues for long-term finance and support, these projects can be powerful vehicles for community resilience and climate justice. Did you know that 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water and roughly half of the world’s population is experiencing severe water scarcity for at least part of the year? The United Nations' World Water Day 2024 is this week and calling for ‘Water for Peace’. In their own words the UN said: "When we cooperate on water, we create a positive ripple effect – fostering harmony, generating prosperity and building resilience to shared challenges. "We must act upon the realisation that water is not only a resource to be used and competed over – it is a human right, intrinsic to every aspect of life. This World Water Day, we all need to unite around water and use water for peace, laying the foundations of a more stable and prosperous tomorrow." India is still far from being a water secure nation. But solutions are emerging and as our Co-Founder Amit Chandra and Rural Development, Head, Amrtha Kasturi Rangan write in the businessline collaboration is key to ensure all Indians have access to water. To know how, read the link below! NITI Aayog, Government of Maharashtra (GoM), Tata Capital
At A.T.E. Chandra Foundation we have the privilege of working extensively with a wide variety of stakeholders - Government Agencies, Philanthropies - NPOs and communities. In fact, in our experience it is this diverse collaboration that has allowed us to scale our work on rejuvenation of water bodies rapidly. This article for the businessline was a great opportunity to sit with our co-founder Amit Chandra and reflect on how this scale has been enabled allowing for us to be featured as one of the #SystemicImpactExemplars by The Convergence Foundation However, is it enough? We don't think so. Through my field visits across the country, I see the transformation that local source augmentation driven by community participation can bring. There are overall 24 lakh water bodies across the country - and if we all work together, we can bring this transformation at the doorsteps of every one of our farmers. https://lnkd.in/dHK_w9CY
