🌍 Here we are. Back in #Kigali for the Africa CEO Forum - the largest annual gathering of Africa's private sector. I am thrilled to host this new edition in #Rwanda. On top of having one of the steadiest growth rates in Africa, the country has kept churning out inspiring economic success stories. Rwanda shows that if Africa doesn’t want to land “on the menu” of the world’s leading economies and have "a place at the table" of global negotiations, it needs to give an absolute priority to #leadership, #governance, and #accountability. For that, the continent needs transformative agendas. We have to redefining leadership in Africa for progress or else... Progress isn’t about the brilliance of individual ideas—it’s about the systems that allow them to thrive. 📌 Leadership Is the Catalyst for Change In Africa, leadership often feels more like competition than collaboration. Our governments sometimes see citizens as threats to monopolies rather than partners in building prosperity. 🟢🟢🟢 But here’s the truth: No society advances when its leadership stifles potential. True leadership empowers innovation, disrupts stagnation, and creates space for new possibilities. 📌 Control Is the Enemy of Innovation We’ve lost years—decades, even—because leadership prioritized control over collaboration. This cycle must end. 🟢🟢🟢 Progress demands a new definition of leadership. One that measures strength by how much potential it nurtures, not suppresses. 📌 Wake Up and Build for Brilliance Africa's youth are its greatest asset. Their ideas can transform industries, redefine economies, and lead us into a future of shared prosperity. But this will only happen when leaders stop seeing disruption as a threat and start seeing it as a stepping stone. 🟢🟢🟢 The question is: Are we ready to redefine leadership and prioritize progress over power? Because that choice will shape the future. And it starts now.

The leadership stage needs young individuals with ideas and the energy to contribute to national, continental, and global development. Yes, we can be impactful, and we can forge a future that works for everyone. But what are you doing as a young leader? What kind of leadership do you envision for your country, your continent and the world you live in? How do you see yourself? What's your focus? What Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) can you start addressing in your community, and your country? Too many questions; however, these questions can all be answered, and that's your starting point. As we collectively reflect on these questions, our roles, and our involvement in world affairs, start with an action. We are needed everywhere, and in every sector; in Entrepreneurship, in Civic Leadership, and in Public Administration. Start now. Think about the kind of leadership you would need and be your kind of leader. Challenge the status quo. The wellbeing of our future lies in our hands. What are you doing with it? Change and innovation require a collective endeavor. Over the past few weeks my ideas and perspectives on Africa's progress have broadened through interactions and networks with fellow youths from across the continent.
