Mental health issues are more common than you might think. There are many conditions that affect one's thinking, behavior, or ability to regulate their emotions, and lots of people struggle with them. In the U.S., about one in five adults suffer from mental illness, and about one in 20 lives with severe mental illness. Common conditions include depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Each year on October 10th, World Mental Health Day raises awareness of mental health issues, educates people on treatment options, and works to remove the stigmas associated with mental illnesses. Charter Oak Health Center pursues this mission on World Mental Health Day, and every day, by making comprehensive behavioral health services available to the community. These include child and family treatment, psychiatric services, substance abuse services, medication management, and group sessions. If you or a loved one are struggling with a mental health condition, you can find the help you need at Charter Oak Health Center. For many, the path to recovery can coincide with a multitude of mental health challenges. Beyond struggles with isolated addiction or mental health challenges, individuals may also grapple with significant co-occurring mental health disorders, including suicidal ideation and self-harm behaviors. These challenges can significantly impede the overall recovery process. Feelings of hopelessness or a belief that recovery is unattainable can exacerbate existing issues and prevent individuals from seeking the support they need. Learn how we assess these challenges in our 2023 Clinical Outcomes Report in order to measure patient progress and ensure sustainable healing: https://lnkd.in/guSqxjRe #therippleeffecttx #rippleranchtx #suiciderecovery #healingispossible #selfharmrecovery #depressionrecovery #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealth

Now this month we are hearing a lot about the rising crisis in mental health and mental health care. Lots of information to raise flags and ring bells. But, fortunately we also have organizations, communities and individuals who are finding old and new ways to engage with the crisis and meet the needs. The Mental Health Team at Americares is doing some important work addressing stress and trauma especially in disaster situations (and right now there are many). The Team continues to develop approaches to mental health care that center on community initiatives and insights. They support local groups and experts with the on-the-ground knowledge and provide them with resources they need to do the work. Hopeful signs in a sea of disturbing news. Learn more about the Mental Health Team, and while you are on the page, scroll a little to download the "Five Steps to Calm." After all, good mental health care begins with self care. https://lnkd.in/ecgxqnGp

JUNE IS MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH During Men's Mental Health Awareness Month in June, it is important to raise awareness about the mental health struggles that men face and encourage them to seek help when needed. It is important for men to know that it is okay to talk about their feelings and seek support from loved ones or mental health professionals. Some common mental health issues that men may face include depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. It is important for men to prioritize their mental health and seek help if they are struggling. By breaking the stigma surrounding men's mental health, we can create a more supportive environment for men to open up about their feelings and seek help when needed. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues, remember that it is okay to seek help. There are resources available such as therapy, support groups, and hotlines that can provide assistance.
