The Tank Storage Awards took place at a mind-blowing event hall at the Schiecenter in Rotterdam on Tuesday. The whole location of the Lloydpier and Schiehaven told me a lot about previous energy transitions and the continuous changes in supply chains. The history of the Lloydkwartier dates back to around 1900. Due to increasing industrialization and product flows, new harbors were constructed, such as the Schiehaven. The Lloydpier owes its name to the shipping company Rotterdamse Lloyd. The first electricity factory in Rotterdam, the Schiecentrale, was also given a place in the Lloydkwartier to support a flourishing industry. But in the decades after the war, activity declined in the area. Port activities moved west as bigger ships with more draft needed deeper ports and more space for loading and unloading activities. At the same time, a transition from coal to oil and gas took place, ultimately resulting in the end of the Schiecentrale as a power station. Luckily, they transformed the Schiecentrale into an impressive venue where the Tank Storage Awards took place in the Turbinehal or old turbine room. It’s fascinating to look at both history and the future. With this story, I would like to congratulate all the winners of a Tank Storage Award! Kudos to StocExpo for an amazing event show. Incorporating a secondary DC grid is equally essential for maximizing efficiency, volume and weight.

The worlds first electric hydrofoil ferry is now operational between Ekerö and Stockholm City Hall! Super interesting to see this new and fresh take on public transport. The Candela P12 is designed specifically for public transport and have a capacity of 30 passengers. There is a lot to uncover here, but some of main benefits are - Electric = Silent and clean - Foil = Efficient and stable - No wake = Potential speed limit exemption, resulting in faster travel - Uses car charging infrastructure (no MW charger needed) = Low capex - Designed for single-person crew = Low opex And much, much more. 🎉 I am happy and proud that #TimeSlotGävle also applies in the Chemical Port in Gävle since this Monday. Thanks to great cooperation with the terminals and stakeholders, our queue system covering #VirtualArrival and secured time slots is now implemented for ships calling any of the five terminals that share the chemical pier. Mandatory queue tickets can be obtained up to 72 hours before arrival to the outer port area.   The new port rules enables #ecodriving for ships during the sea-passage from the previous port, thus giving prerequisities for large savings of CO2. 💚 🚢 Time Slot Gävle was originally introduced in Gävle Energy Port in February 2023, as a result of a three year collaboration with TERNTANK, Preem AB and VTI, Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut and in close cooperation with the eight terminals that share the energy pier. Digital queue tickets can be obtained up to 36 hours before arrival at this quay.
