Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a major gas discovery at its exploratory well, Chak 202-1, in District Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab Province. The well, which was spudded on June 29, 2024, has tested 6.15 million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) of gas, marking the second consecutive discovery in the Mari East Block. The discovery demonstrates OGDCL's commitment to harnessing the hydrocarbon potential of the Mari East Block through its robust exploration strategy. The company's in-house expertise and technology have played a crucial role in the discovery, which is expected to contribute significantly to bridging the energy demand-supply gap in Pakistan. The discovery is a significant boost to OGDCL's hydrocarbon reserves and the country's overall energy landscape. On 26th Septenber-2024, my work place #कर्मभूमि, #PPAC (Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell) organised a #StakeholderConference on 26th September-2024 for LPG & GAS stakeholders from Oil & Gas Companies from Government & Private sectors. I had a chance to present a brief #LPGOverview to a distinguished gathering of very senior functionaries from #Oil&GasSector companies and Organizations and think tanks. As Government of India has targeted to increase the share of #NaturalGas in primary #EnergyMix in India from current 6.5% to 15% by #2030 and several interventions are on to boost natural gas infrastructure and utilization, thereby enhancing its penetration as a #CleanCookingFuel as #PNG as well as environment friendly transport fuel as #CNG. Liquified Petroleum Gas (#LPG) marketing in India is carried out by public sector oil marketing companies (i.e. #IOCL, #BPCL and #HPCL) as well as private parties under the #ParallelMarketingSystem (PMS). Further, the role of PSU OMCs & PMs and #CGDEntities is crucial to meet the target of #SDG-7 by 2030 for providing access to all clean cooking etc. The day was filled with panel discussions, technical sessions and interactive sessions with senior functionaries from #Oil&Gas Sector companies and Organizations and think tanks. This conference is the very first one as conducted by PPAC for two kinds of stakeholders from #LPG&NG businesses as PPAC as a data repository for Oil and Gas sector, coordinate with OMCs / Gas Company (both PSUs/Pvt)), #LPGParallelMarketers (PMs) and #CityGasDistribution (CGD) for collecting data. I felt privileged to be part of the organising & planning committee of this event and contributed towards a successful event. Team PPAC is happy to note the appreciation as received on ground by the participants which has encouraged us to have such a program in future for other stakeholders too.

OGDCL has achieved a milestone with the discovery of tight gas at Nur West # 01 well in Sujawal, Sindh. The well, drilled to 2,975 meters, tested 1.24 MMSCFD of gas from the Lower Goru Formation, marking significant commercial potential. This breakthrough supports OGDCL's strategy to expand Pakistan's energy resources, aligning with the Tight Gas Policy 2024 to boost unconventional hydrocarbon exploration. OGDCL (Oil and Gas Development Corporation Limited) has announced a significant discovery of gas and condensate reserves at the Betani exploration well, located in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This achievement highlights the company's ongoing efforts to explore and develop Pakistan's energy resources. Notably, this is the first-ever hydrocarbon find within the Samanasic formation in the Wali Block. The newly identified reserves are expected to yield an impressive daily production of 2.14 million standard cubic feet of gas alongside 74 barrels of condensate. Earlier this year, in March 2024, OGDCL had reported a similar breakthrough in the Kohat Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
