The Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG) is a working group of the Industry Competence Committee (ICC), a statutory committee under the Building Safety Regulator. Formerly known as the Competence Steering Group, it was originally set up in response to the Grenfell Tower Fire and subsequent Hackitt Review. ICSG is Co-Chaired by Hanna Clarke, Construction Products Association and Gill Hancock, Association for Project Management. Under its new chairs, the ICSG is implementing a new structure which the ICC has reviewed and agreed. It will better cover the built environment's disciplines and support existing work across the industry. The new structure will bring together contributions from over 60 professional bodies and 1500 individuals in the built environment. Jon Vanstone Chair of the ICC – “Integrating ICSG as a working group under ICC marks a crucial step in fostering a culture of competence and raising standards across the built environment. ICC will establish clear expectations, while ICSG provides a platform for collaboration and innovation to achieve these goals. Together, we are committed to delivering clear and practical guidance, ensuring that competence is recognised as the cornerstone of safety and quality, both within industry practices and in public trust.” More information including how to contact ICSG can be found in the attached press release and appendix

Update from the Industry Competence Committee (ICC) We’re proud to announce the restructuring of the Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG), now a working group of ICC under the Building Safety Regulator. Originally established in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the Hackitt Review, ICSG continues its mission to elevate competence and safety standards across the built environment. Under the leadership of Co-Chairs Hanna Clarke and Gill Hancock, ICSG is evolving to better support our industry. With input from over 60 professional bodies and 1,500 contributors, the group will drive competence frameworks aligned with the BS 8670 series and promote best practices across the sector. As Chair of ICC, I am committed to this important work. ICC will set clear expectations for the industry, while ICSG provides a collaborative platform to meet these goals. Together, we are fostering a culture where competence is the foundation of safety and trust. For further details on the restructure and how to get involved, please refer to the document within the post. Let’s continue working together to drive positive change across the built environment. #BuildingSafety #Competence #ICSG
