#Unmanned #Aerial #Vehicles (#UAVs) have witnessed remarkable significance in diverse sectors, ranging from environmental monitoring, infrastructure inspection, disaster response, wildlife conservation, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. It is crucial to predict their future states to enable UAVs’ safe and efficient operation in dynamic environments. UAV trajectory planning is a crucial aspect of UAV operations, as it determines how the drone will navigate, perform tasks, and avoid obstacles. UAVs can be operated with varying degrees of autonomy, and they can be controlled by humans or autonomously via onboard autopilot software. While existing research has extensively focused on trajectory planning methodologies for UAVs, there is a noticeable gap in the literature concerning the integration of predictive capabilities into trajectory planning, highlighting the need for a comprehensive review of methodologies in UAV trajectory prediction connected with the associated realm of trajectory planning. This article provides a comprehensive and comparative analysis of trajectory prediction methods tailored for autonomous UAVs. ----Pushpak Shukla, @Shailendra Shukla, @Amit Kumar Singh More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/gJjyK-QS

Kongsberg’s new underwater drone completes longest autonomous dive Kongsberg Discovery, a division of Norwegian defense contractor KONGSBERG, has achieved a significant milestone with the HUGIN Endurance Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. The 8-ton, 40-foot AUV successfully completed a multi-week, fully autonomous mission, showcasing its ability to operate without human intervention or external navigation aids. The mission, which spanned depths between 50 and 3,400 meters, tested the HUGIN Endurance’s capabilities under real-world conditions. After receiving its final navigation update 10 hours into the dive from a pre-deployed transponder, the vehicle continued its journey autonomously, covering a total distance of 1,200 nautical miles. Most impressively, the AUV returned with a position error of just 0.02% of the total distance traveled, validating its precise navigation and operational endurance. Kongsberg Discovery emphasized that the mission was designed to push the HUGIN Endurance to its limits, ensuring it met the design specifications. “This mission exemplifies the advanced capabilities of HUGIN Endurance, confirming its reliability and accuracy over extended unsupervised operations,” the company stated. HUGIN Endurance is the latest in the HUGIN family of AUVs, known for their deep-water operational capabilities. At 39 feet long and 47 inches in diameter, the AUV can operate for up to 15 days, enabling it to conduct shore-to-shore missions across a 1,200 nautical mile range without the need for human oversight. It builds on Kongsberg’s 30-year history of delivering reliable unmanned underwater systems to both commercial and government sectors, with approximately 100 HUGIN systems deployed worldwide. This latest achievement places HUGIN Endurance at the forefront of autonomous underwater technology, solidifying Kongsberg Discovery’s reputation as a leader in unmanned deep-water exploration and defense applications. https://lnkd.in/djYz37vs

What happens when 6 students from the Estonian Aviation Academy put their heads together? 🤔 SafeDrone Systems - a student project focused on making the skies safer for all drone operators. Our mission? Crafting a versatile autonomous parachute recovery system compatible with both helicopter and multirotor type UAVs. The key challenge we are addressing is to reduce the risks of operating a drone. This will allow operators to fly in higher risk areas (cities, large concentrated crowds). As a result, companies using unmanned aerial vehicles for commercial purposes will have greater opportunities to pursue their business objectives. If you keep an eye on what we're up to, you'll see a module in one of our future posts. 😉 Together, let's soar to new heights of achievement! 🏆 #UnmannedAircraft #SafetyFirst #Innovation

#questions When talking with fellow drone pilots, it’s essential to ask the tough questions. Being a drone pilot comes with its challenges—some jobs can be tough, and clients don’t always respect the hard work and skill required to capture high-quality footage and data. But let me be clear, I speak for those with true skill, not those who are just pretending. Check out my recent Instagram Live where I had a candid conversation with an American drone pilot about the realities of our industry. #part107 #Interview #USADrones #DronePilotLife
