Shoutout to engineers in leadership! Dr. Fuchs was the President of UF for most of my undergraduate career, having preceded Dr. Sasse’s short tenure. I discussed in the Alligator some concerns on the future of AI policy at UF. UF has made great strides, promising strides but seemed unclear in what precisely we were doing as an AI university. I hope UF undergoes a comprehensive search. I look forward, as an alumni, to seeing who the next president is. I hope it is someone from the world of STEM like Fuchs is, as UF is a leading university in research — especially making breakthroughs through the College if Medicine, Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, and my former department, the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering. Strong AI and science-oriented policy and research funding will be essential to UF’s growth. #AI #UF #Florida #Gators #Science #STEM
